Sawiris Cultural Award

The Sawiris Cultural Award is an Egyptian literary prize, awarded annually by the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development. [1] It was inaugurated in 2005 with prizes in two categories: novels and short stories. Since then, additional categories in screenplays and playwriting have been added. Each award is also divided into two sub-categories: senior writers and junior writers.

Abdelrahman or Abd al-Rahman or Abdul Rahman or Abdurrahman or Abdrrahman is a male Arabic Muslim given name, and in modern usage, surname. It is built from the Arabic words Abd, al- and Rahman. The name means "servant of the most gracious", ar-Rahman being one of the names of God in the Qur'an, which give rise to the Muslim theophoric names.

Banipal is an independent literary magazine dedicated to the promotion of contemporary Arab literature through translations in English. Dar Shorouq is an Arabic publishing house based in Beirut and Cairo. It publishes books in politics, biographies, memoirs, history, philosophy, social sciences, religion, nationalist thought, and art as well as children's books.
