Scaly Bark Creek

Scaly Bark Creek is a stream in Johnson County in the U.S. state of Missouri. [1] It is a tributary of Big Creek. [2]

The stream source is at 38°40′10″N94°00′59″W / 38.66944°N 94.01639°W / 38.66944; -94.01639 [1] approximately 1.5 miles north of the community of Medford. [3] The stream flows generally south-southwest to its confluence with Big Creek [2] at 38°35′42″N94°03′01″W / 38.59500°N 94.05028°W / 38.59500; -94.05028 . [1]

The creek was named for the condition of the bark of the hickory trees lining its course. [4]

The source area is about one mile east of the community of Edgewood and U.S. Route 61 and the stream flows to the northeast passing south of the community of Calumet. The stream continues to the northeast and enters the Mississippi about one mile northwest of Clarksville. The confluence is at 39°22′44″N90°55′15″W and an elevation of 449 feet.
