The Richmond County School System is an American public school system based in Augusta, Georgia. It is run by the Richmond County Board of Education which, under Article VIII, § V, Paragraph 2, requires that each school system be under the management and control of an elected board of education. As elected Constitutional officials of Georgia, the school board members are responsible for setting educational policies, employing school personnel, providing buildings and equipment, operating a transportation system, and disbursing school funds. The board of education meets in the Richmond County Board of Education building at 864 Broad Street in Augusta, Georgia. It serves consolidated Augusta-Richmond County, Georgia and the south Richmond County cities of Hephzibah and Blythe. The system has an enrollment of around 32,000 students, attending 36 elementary schools, ten middle schools, eight high schools, four magnet schools, and three other schools. The school board has its own police department which provides law enforcement services to all the district's schools.
State Route 26 (SR 26) is a 271.1-mile-long (436.3 km) state highway that travels west-to-east through portions of Chattahoochee, Marion, Schley, Macon, Houston, Pulaski, Bleckley, Laurens, Johnson, Emanuel, Bulloch, Bryan, Effingham, and Chatham counties through the central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. It crosses nearly the entire width of the state, connecting Cusseta, on the southeastern edge of Fort Benning, near Columbus to Tybee Island on the Atlantic coast near Savannah, via Buena Vista, Ellaville, Oglethorpe, Hawkinsville, Cochran, Dublin, Swainsboro, Statesboro, and Savannah.

Murrays Crossroads was an unincorporated community in Schley County, Georgia, United States. It was located at the intersection of U.S. Route 19 with State Route 240, to the north of the city of Ellaville, the county seat of Schley County. The elevation of the location is 440 feet (134 m). In the late 19th century it was a "prosperous country settlement", which had its own post office by 1884. Thomas E. Watson gave a speech at Murray's Crossroads in 1893. In 1959, it was referred to as a "town". By 2021, however, it was referred to as a "past example" of a rural community.

Woodall–Patton House and Post Office, also known as the Schley Post Office and locally known as Patton Hill Post Office, is a historic building in Ellaville, Georgia. It is located on GA 240 3 miles west of US19, along the route between the towns of Buena Vista and Oglethorpe. The post office operated from 1888 until 1905.
Schley Middle High School is located in the town of Ellaville, Georgia, United States. It is part of the Schley County School District, which covers residents of Ellaville and Murrays Crossroads. The middle school serves grades 6 through 8, while the high school serves grades 9 through 12. The school colors are black, white, and silver. The school mascot is the Wildcat.
Schley County Courthouse is a historic courthouse in Ellaville, Georgia. It is the county's second county courthouse building. Designed by Golucke & Stewart in a Romanesque Revival style, it was built in 1899. It is made of brick with stone and metal trim. The interior has a cross pan. The courtroom had a pressed metal ceiling, which has been covered over except for the balcony. It has capped clock towers.
Will Jones was an African-American man who was lynched in Ellaville, Schley County, Georgia by a white mob on February 13, 1922. According to the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary it was the 13th of 61 lynchings during 1922 in the United States.
