The Inquirer was a British technology tabloid website founded by Mike Magee after his departure from The Register in 2001. In 2006 the site was acquired by Dutch publisher Verenigde Nederlandse Uitgeverijen (VNU). Mike Magee later left The Inquirer in February 2008 to work on the IT Examiner.
Verse is a networking protocol allowing real-time communication between computer graphics software. For example, several architects can build a house in the same virtual environment using their own computers, even if they are using different software. If one architect builds a spiral staircase, it instantly appears on the screens of all other users. Verse is designed to use the capacity of one or multiple computers over the Internet: for example, allowing a user with a hand-held computer in Spain to work with the rendering power of a supercomputer in Japan. Danger was acquired by Microsoft on 11 February 2008, for a price rumored to be around $500 million (USD).
Sun Modular Datacenter is a portable data center built into a standard 20-foot intermodal container manufactured and marketed by Sun Microsystems. An external chiller and power were required for the operation of a Sun MD. A data center of up to 280 servers could be rapidly deployed by shipping the container in a regular way to locations that might not be suitable for a building or another structure, and connecting it to the required infrastructure. Sun stated that the system could be made operational for 1% of the cost of building a traditional data center.
Integral Systems, Inc. was a manufacturer of satellite ground systems founded in 1982, and based in Columbia, Maryland in the United States. The company had supported over 205 satellite missions for communications, science, meteorological and earth resource applications. Integral's customers included government/commercial satellite operators, spacecraft/payload manufacturers and aerospace systems integrators. The company offered a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software product line for command and control, and employed approximately 769 people in the United States and Europe. On July 27, 2011, California Kratos Defense and Security Solutions completed the acquisition of Integral System, with each outstanding share of Integral Systems common stock cancelled and converted into the right to receive (i) $5.00, in cash, without interest, and (ii) 0.588 shares of the Kratos Defense and Security Solutions common stock.
The Australian Figure Skating Championships is a figure skating competition held annually to crown the national champions of Australia. It is organized by Ice Skating Australia, the nation's figure skating governing body. Medals may be awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, ice dancing, and synchronized skating on the senior, junior, and novice levels.
AMD FireStream was AMD's brand name for their Radeon-based product line targeting stream processing and/or GPGPU in supercomputers. Originally developed by ATI Technologies around the Radeon X1900 XTX in 2006, the product line was previously branded as both ATI FireSTREAM and AMD Stream Processor. The AMD FireStream can also be used as a floating-point co-processor for offloading CPU calculations, which is part of the Torrenza initiative. The FireStream line has been discontinued since 2012, when GPGPU workloads were entirely folded into the AMD FirePro line.

SciTech SNAP is an operating system portable, dynamically loadable, native-size 32-bit/64-bit device driver architecture. SciTech SNAP defines the architecture for loading an operating system neutral binary device driver for any type of hardware device, be it a graphics controller, audio controller, SCSI controller or network controller. SciTech SNAP drivers are source code portable between different microprocessor platforms, and the binary drivers are operating system portable within a particular microprocessor family.
Midori was the code name for a managed code operating system (OS) being developed by Microsoft with joint effort of Microsoft Research. It had been reported to be a possible commercial implementation of the OS Singularity, a research project begun in 2003 to build a highly dependable OS in which the kernel, device drivers, and application software are all written in managed code. It was designed for concurrency, and could run a program spread across multiple nodes at once. It also featured a security model that sandboxes applications for increased security. Microsoft had mapped out several possible migration paths from Windows to Midori. Midori was discontinued some time in 2015, though many of its concepts were used in other Microsoft projects.
Nicholas "Nick" Miccarelli III was an American politician from Pennsylvania who served as a Republican member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 162nd legislative district until January 2019. After his election in 2008, Miccarelli was deployed to Iraq with his Pennsylvania National Guard Unit in February 2009 and took leave from the Pennsylvania General Assembly for the duration of his deployment. In December 2009, Miccarelli returned to the House upon completion of his tour in Iraq. He was re-elected to his second term in November 2010, and to his third term in November 2012. He did not run for re-election in 2018.
EcoCAR: The NeXt Challenge was a yearly competition from 2008 to 2011, that built on the 19-year history of U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) advanced vehicle technology competitions by giving engineering students the chance to design and build advanced vehicles to demonstrate cutting-edge automotive technologies, with the goal of minimizing the environmental impact of future personal transportation. The DOE has again joined General Motors (GM), the Government of Canada, and other sponsors for this new competition series, named the EcoCAR Challenge. Argonne National Laboratory, a DOE research and development facility, will organize and operate the EcoCAR Challenge. Some previous types of advanced vehicle technology competitions include FutureTruck, FutureCar, and Challenge X. these type of competitions are usually supported by one or more of the Big Three American Automobile Manufacturers.
