Scott Burkell is an American lyricist, librettist, and former actor best known for his work in musical theatre. He has collaborated with Paul Loesel to develop musicals.

Acting

Burkell began his career as an actor, appearing in regional and off-Broadway productions.^{[ citation needed ]} He was a replacement cast member in the original Broadway production of Titanic (1997). ^[1] He later formed a cabaret group known as J Glitz alongside Jonathan Larson and Marin Mazzie. ^[2] In regional theatre, he performed at The Barn Theatre in Augusta, Michigan.^{[ citation needed ]}

Collaboration with Paul Loescher

Burkell has collaborated with composer Paul Loescher to develop musicals. Their work includes:

• LMNOP, ^[3] a dark comedy musical based on the novel Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn about a town where letters fall from a monument, and the government bans them one by one;^{[ citation needed ]} and
• The Extraordinary Ordinary, (formerly Six of One), a musical about a group of friends in Manhattan navigating life and relationships as they approach middle age. ^[4]
