Scott Chantler (born February 9, 1972) [1] is a Canadian cartoonist and illustrator known for his historical and children's fantasy graphic novels.
Chantler was born in Deep River, Ontario, Canada. He attended the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario, majoring in fine arts/film studies. He later studied computer animation at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario. [1]
Chantler began as a commercial illustrator in a corporate communications firm. With writer J. Torres, he went on to publish a graphic novel, Days Like This, and after more such work eventually began writing as well as drawing graphic novels. In 2015 he was appointed Cartoonist-in-Residence at the University of Windsor. [2]
He is the winner of a 2011 Joe Shuster Award in the Comics for Kids category for the first book in the Three Thieves series, Tower of Treasure. [3]
Days Like This was one of 23 books in the "On That Note: Music and Musicians" section of the American Library Association's 2004 Popular Paperbacks for Young Adults list. [4]
Chantler was nominated for a 2005 Russ Manning Most Promising Newcomer Award, for the graphic novel Scandalous, written by J. Torres. [5] He was nominated for an Eisner Award in 2008 for Best Publication for Teens, for Northwest Passage: The Annotated Collection, [6] and in 2011 for Best Reality-Based Work, for Two Generals, [7] a graphic memoir of World War II based on his grandfather's experiences. Northwest Passage also earned a 2008 Harvey Award nomination for Special Award for Excellent in Presentation, [8] and a 2008 Joe Shuster Award nomination for Cover by a Canadian Comic Book Artist. Colleen Doran is an American writer-artist and cartoonist. She illustrated hundreds of comics, graphic novels, books and magazines, including the autobiographical graphic novel of Marvel Comics editor and writer Stan Lee entitled Amazing Fantastic Incredible Stan Lee, which became a New York Times bestseller. She adapted and did the art for the short story "Troll Bridge" by Neil Gaiman, which also became a New York Times bestseller. Her books have received Eisner, Harvey, Bram Stoker, Locus, and International Horror Guild Awards.

Steve Rolston is a Canadian artist and writer of comic books and graphic novels currently living in Vancouver, British Columbia. After working in story boards for various animated series, he got his first break from Oni Press as the penciler and inker of the first four issues of their on-going Queen & Country comic series by praised author Greg Rucka. From 2005 to 2017, Rolston taught a course at Vancouver Institute of Media Arts entitled "Introduction to Comic Book Production".

The Joe Shuster Canadian Comic Book Creator Awards are given out annually for outstanding achievements in the creation of comic books, graphic novels, webcomics, and comics retailers and publishers by Canadians. The awards, first handed out in April 2005, are named in honour of Joe Shuster (1914–1992), the Canadian-born co-creator of Superman.
Svetlana Chmakova is a Russian-Canadian comic book artist. She is best known for Dramacon, an original English-language (OEL) manga spanning three volumes and published in North America by Tokyopop. Her other original work includes Nightschool and Awkward for Yen Press. She has been nominated for an Eisner Award twice. Previously, she created The Adventures of CG for CosmoGIRL! magazine and the webcomic Chasing Rainbows for Girlamatic.
Joseph Torres, better known as J. Torres, is a Filipino-born Canadian comic book writer. He is perhaps best known for his run on DC Comics' Teen Titans Go! as well as his two Forest of Reading Honour Books, the graphic novels Planet Hockey (2021) and Stealing Home (2022). He has also done some writing for animation and television, most notably Degrassi: The Next Generation.

He first came to prominence when he collaborated as an illustrator with writer Grant Morrison, and he went on to illustrate Catwoman and co-write Batgirl. He won Eisner and Shuster Awards for his self-published mystery web comic Sin Titulo, and received an Eisner nomination for The Other Side.
Karl Kerschl is a Canadian comic book artist. He is best known for his work on DC Comics books, including Adventures of Superman, Majestic, All-Flash, Teen Titans: Year One and Gotham Academy.
Batton Lash was an American comics creator who came to prominence as part of the 1990s self-publishing boom. He is best known for the series Wolff and Byrd, Counselors of the Macabre, a comedic series about law partners specializing in cases dealing with archetypes from the horror genre, which ran as a strip in The National Law Journal, and as a stand-alone series of comic books and graphic novels. He received several awards for his work, including an Inkpot Award, an Independent Book Publishers Association's Benjamin Franklin Award, an Eisner Award, and nominations for two Harvey Awards.
Kathryn Moira Beaton is a Canadian comics artist best known as the creator of the comic strip Hark! A Vagrant, which ran from 2007 to 2018. Her other major works include the children's books The Princess and the Pony and King Baby, published in 2015 and 2016 respectively. The former was made into an Apple TV+ series called Pinecone & Pony released in 2022 on which Beaton worked as an executive producer. Also in 2022, Beaton released a memoir in graphic novel form, Ducks: Two Years in the Oil Sands, about her experience working in the Alberta oil sands. Publishers Weekly named Ducks one of their top ten books of the year.

Emily Carroll is a comics author from Ontario, Canada. Carroll started making comics in 2010, and her horror webcomic His Face All Red went viral around Halloween of 2010. Since then, Carroll has published two books of her own work, created comics for various comics anthologies, and provided illustrations for other works. Carroll has won several awards, including an Ignatz and two Eisners.
Ronald Wimberly is an American cartoonist. He has published several graphic novels, as well as shorter works for The New Yorker, DC/Vertigo, Nike, Marvel, Hill and Wang, and Dark Horse Comics. Wimberly was the 2016 Columbus Museum of Art comics resident, and was a two-time resident cartoonist at Angoulême's Maison des Auteurs. He is the recipient of the 2008 Glyph Comics Award, and has been nominated for two Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards.
Delilah Dirk is a series of action adventure graphic novels following adventures of the titular character, Delilah Dirk. Written and illustrated by Tony Cliff, Delilah Dirk started as a webcomic, and now consists of three full graphic novels and one shorter story.
