Scott Crooker

Scott Crooker is a research scientist at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory pulsed field facility at Los Alamos National Laboratory. [1] He received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of California, Santa Barbara and his B.A. in physics from Cornell University. [2] He is a Fellow of the Optical Society of America, [3] a fellow of Los Alamos National Laboratory, [4] a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science [5] and a fellow of the American Physical Society. [6] He received a Los Alamos National Laboratory Fellow's Prize in 2007 [7] for his outstanding research in the development of novel magneto-optical spectroscopies and their application to problems in solid state and atomic physics systems. In 2007 he also received a Los Alamos National Laboratory Outstanding Innovation Technology Transfer Award [8] for a patent on multifunctional nanocrystals. [9]

Panayotis G. Kevrekidis is a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Kevrekidis earned his B.Sc. in physics in 1996 from the University of Athens. He obtained his M.S. in 1998 and Ph.D. in 2000 from Rutgers University, the latter under the joint supervision of Joel Lebowitz and Panos G. Georgopoulos. His thesis was entitled “Lattice Dynamics of Solitary Wave Excitations”. He then assumed a post-doctoral position split between the Program in Applied and Computational Mathematics of Princeton University (10/2000–02/2001) and the Theoretical Division and the Center for Nonlinear Studies of Los Alamos National Laboratory (03/2001–08/2001). From 09/2001, he joined the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of Massachusetts Amherst as an assistant professor. He was awarded tenure and promotion to associate professor in 06/2005. As of 09/2010, he is a full professor at the same institution. He is presently the Stanislaw M. Ulam Scholar at the Center for Nonlinear Studies at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

She received her bachelor's degree in physics with computer science from Harvey Mudd College in 1997 and a Ph.D. in physics from the University of California, San Diego in 2003. Zapf studies Multiferrics and Quantum Magnetism. She served as a Millikan post-doctoral fellow at the California Institute of Technology from 2004-2005 and as a Director's fellow at Los Alamos National Laboratory from 2005-2006. She received a Los Alamos National Laboratory Distinguished Performance Award and a Lee-Osheroff-Richardson prize. In 2017, she was elected as a Fellow of the American Physical Society for "seminal contributions to the understanding of quantum mechanical properties of superconductors, quantum magnets, and multiferroic systems at low temperatures and in extreme magnetic fields to 100T." and an outstanding referee award from the American Physical Society in 2019. Mary Yvonne Pottenger Hockaday is an American physicist who works at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. She was elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2014 and the American Physical Society in 2022.
