The Men's Indoor National League Division 1 is the top tier of men's indoor hockey in Scotland. The winners are crowned Scottish Hockey indoor champions and represent Scotland in the EHF Eurohockey Indoor Club Championships.

Contents

The league runs from December to February every year. It comprises of eight teams, with each playing the others once in a round robin format, followed by a split into two divisions comprising the top half and bottom half of the league. A further round of games is played in these divisions. The top two teams in the top half division meet in a grand final to determine the league winner. The bottom two teams in the bottom half division play in a relegation playoff to determine relegation to National League Division 2.

All eight teams meet at a central venue with most matches being played on a Saturday at Bell's Sports Centre. Other venues include Dundee International Sports Centre and the PEAK Centre in Stirling.

Five different clubs have won the Scottish Indoor National League Division 1 title. The first title was won by Menzieshill in 1984/85. The most recent new winner was Western Wildcats in 2018/19.

European Titles

Three clubs playing in the Scottish men's top flight have won European Indoor Club titles, all in the second tier 'B' Division [13] . Scottish men's club sides have also competed in the top tier 'A' Division on eleven occasions, with the highest placings being third for Edinburgh Civil Service (1990) and fourth for Menzieshill (2008).

Dundee United Football Club Women is a Scottish women's association football club based in Dundee that is affiliated with the professional men's club Dundee United F.C. Founded in 2015, they play in Scottish Women's Premier League 1, the first tier of the national league system, after winning promotion from the second tier in 2021–22 and third tier in 2018. They had previously been promoted from the fourth tier in their 2016 debut season.

Scottish Hockey currently runs two men's national outdoor leagues and two women's national outdoor leagues. The season runs from September to May, with a break in winter for the Indoor league. The winners of the Premiership are declared Scottish Champions. The men's leagues were formed in 1975 after competitive district hockey proved popular. The 1974-75 district results were used to populate the inaugural season which was made up of three leagues of twelve. Following the first season, the leagues were split into six leagues of eight teams.

West District Hockey currently runs four men's outdoor divisions and two men's indoor divisions. The leagues are run by the West District committee. The season runs from September to April, with indoor running from December to February. The leagues were formed in 1954 after the Scottish Hockey Association agreed to allow competitive hockey in the districts. Thirteen teams competed in the inaugural season, with Stepps winning overall. The South-West District had its first competitive league in 1957-58, with nine teams competing. The two districts merged in 1975-76.

The 2017 Men's EuroHockey Club Trophy was the 41st edition of the men's EuroHockey Club Trophy, Europe's secondary club field hockey tournament organized by the European Hockey Federation. It was held from 2 to 5 June 2017 in Elektrostal, Russia.
