Scourged Flesh is a Christian metal band that originated in Perth, Western Australia. [1] They perform thrash and death metal. The band has released three studio albums: Released From Damnation (2006), Bury the Lies (2007), and Welcome to the End of the World (2009).

Background

The band started in 2006 with brothers Todd (guitar, vocals) and Dave Kilgallon (drums), and bassist Simon Bracegirdle. [1] After the first album, Released From Damnation (2006), Bracegirdle was replaced with Scott Lockyer. After Bury the Lies, Simon Hogget replaced Lockyer, and Daniel Holmes joined as a second guitarist. [1] In 2008, Dave Kilgallon joined the fellow Australian band Mortification as their drummer. [3]

Mortification was an Australian Christian death metal band which was formed in 1987 as a heavy metal group, Lightforce, by mainstay Steve Rowe on bass guitar and vocals. By 1990, in the Melbourne suburb of Moorabbin, they were renamed as Mortification with the line-up of Rowe, Michael Carlisle on guitar and Jayson Sherlock on drums. Mortification has released fourteen studio albums, three compilation albums, three extended plays, six live discs, one demo album, one box set, and several videos on major record labels such as Nuclear Blast. As one of the earliest internationally successful Christian death metal bands from Australia, they served as an inspiration for later similar groups.

Psycroptic are an Australian technical death metal band formed in Hobart, Australia in 1999. Mainstay members are Dave Haley on drums and his brother Joe Haley on guitar. Their lead vocalist, Jason Peppiatt, joined in 2004. In 2008 they signed to Nuclear Blast. As of August 2022, the band have released eight studio albums. They have undertaken Australian national tours supporting international acts, Incantation, Decapitated, Origin and Misery Index. Psycroptic have also toured Europe with Nile and with Deicide. In February 2019, the band started a co-headlining tour alongside Aversions Crown and support bands Within Destruction, Hadal Maw and Hollow World across Europe. They also headlined a 2019 tour in the United States in support of their album As the Kingdom Drowns.

The CD debuted at No. 18 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the top 100 of the Billboard 200. Scrolls of the Megilloth is the second studio album by Australian Christian death metal band Mortification. It was released on 28 August 1992. The band's most famous release, this album is full-on death metal, with the thrash metal roots barely showing, and possibly their most extreme album to date. According to AllMusic, the album "garnered the band some attention from the heavy metal underground" and contains "some of the most frightening vocals ever recorded." In 2010, HM Magazine ranked Scrolls of the Megilloth number 17 on the Top 100 Christian Metal Albums of All Time list with Van Pelt stating that "Though the band has been living it down ever since, this album raised the standard of Christian grindcore to almost unattainable levels."

Severe Torture is a Dutch death metal band, formed in 1997 by drummer Seth van de Loo, bassist Patrick Boleij and guitarist Thijs van Laarhoven.

Stephen Andrew Rowe is an Australian musician who is the founder, vocalist and bass guitarist of the Christian death metal band Mortification, which is considered to be a pioneer in the genre. Prior to forming Mortification, he was in a traditional heavy metal-styled Christian band known as LightForce. He was diagnosed with leukemia in 1997, but made a full recovery. He is currently the owner and head of the Rowe Productions record label. In 2015, Rowe announced his retirement from Christian music. However, his career has continued, while Mortification has been inactive the members' side project, Wonrowe Vision, have remained active.

The Scourger is a thrash metal band from Helsinki, Finland, that formed in 2003. All three of the band's singles have landed on the national Finnish charts: "Hatehead", which debuted at No. 1 in July 2005; "Maximum Intensity", which landed at No. 3 a year later and climbed to No. 2 the following week; and "Never Bury the Hatchet", which entered the charts at No. 9 in July 2007. The first two singles are found on the band's 2006 debut album, Blind Date with Violence, while the third single is on the 2008 follow-up, Dark Invitation to Armageddon. On May 14, 2009, the band announced that it was splitting; vocalist Jari Hurskainen retained The Scourger name, while drummer Seppo Tarvainen, bassist Kimmo Kammonen, and guitarists Jani Luttinen and Antti Wirman will form a new band which has not yet been officially announced. Grave Forsaken is an Australian Christian metal band, where they primarily play thrash metal, death metal, and doom metal styles of music. They come from Perth, Western Australia. The band started making music in 2004. They have released five studio albums, and they have recorded two extended plays, in their tenure.
