The Seamount League was founded in June 1991. [1] It merged with the Pierce County League in June 2001. [1]
In the late 2000s, the league had one of the highest ejection rates of any league in the state of Washington. [2]
In 2016 the members of the Seamount League were part of a major restructuring, which brought into existence the new North Puget Sound League and changes to the South Puget Sound League, and caused the Seamount League to fold. [3] [4]
The league was led by three organizations: the Superintendents' Association, the Principals' Association, and the Activities / Athletics Directors' Association. [1] The Superintendents' Association determined the overall direction of the league.
Participating school districts included the Highline School District (Evergreen High School, Highline High School, and the Tyee Educational Complex), the Renton School District (Hazen High School, Lindbergh High School, and Renton High School), [5] and the Tukwila School District (Foster High School). [1]
At one point, Mount Rainier High School, John F. Kennedy Catholic High School, Liberty High School (Issaquah, Washington), and Mount Si High School were Seamount League members.
New members could have been admitted by a vote of league principals and the superintendents of districts in which member schools are located. [1]

Highline Public Schools (HPS) is a public school district in King County, headquartered in Burien, Washington. As of October 2007, it served 17,331 students and had 997 teachers, and served the cities of Burien, much of Des Moines, Normandy Park, and SeaTac as well as adjacent unincorporated census-designated places proximal to Burien in King County such as White Center and much of Boulevard Park. Portions of Kent and Tukwila and a very small portion of Seattle are in the district limits.
Lindbergh High School is a (senior) high school in the southeastern section of Renton, Washington, a suburb of Seattle, in the Renton School District. It is named after Charles A. Lindbergh, the famous aviator who was first to fly solo across the Atlantic in 1927. The school was founded in 1972. Freshmen, sophomores and juniors attended the first year, making the class of 1974 the first to graduate. Lindbergh's school motto is ad astra, which is Latin for "to the stars". The crest features the Spirit of St. Louis, and the school's motto flanked by stars with the dates 1927 and 1972, respectively.
Raisbeck Aviation High School (or RAHS), part of the Highline School District, is located in Tukwila, Washington. The school is an aviation- and aerospace-themed STEM school and one of the Highline School District's small schools. It is focused on preparing students for college, careers, and citizenship. The school serves about 400 students in grades 9-12 from around Puget Sound. Until 2013 it was known as Aviation High School. It is next to the Museum of Flight's Aviation Pavilion exhibit near King County International Airport.
Auburn High School, formerly Auburn Senior High School, is a public high school in Auburn, Washington, United States, founded in 1903. The school is situated on 18 acres (73,000 m2) of land in downtown Auburn. Its campus includes the Auburn Performing Arts Center (PAC), the Auburn School District Swimming Pool, Auburn Memorial Stadium, tennis courts, softball field and baseball field. Beginning with the 2014-2015 school year, staff and students will move into the new Auburn High School located at 711 East Main Street in Auburn. Construction of the new school building began on February 24, 2013, following the November 2012 Bond Election, in which Auburn District voters authorized the selling of bonds to fund the new high school building. The entire school, with the exception of the PAC and the auto shop building, was replaced.
Highline High School is a public high school in Burien, Washington, United States, located about 3.5 miles from Seattle–Tacoma International Airport. Highline High School, the flagship high school of the Highline Public Schools district, opened in 1924 and served the cities of Burien, Des Moines, and an area south of Seattle now known as White Center. Today, those cities all have their own area high schools, but at the time Highline was the only high school in the area.
