The Leitrim County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) or Leitrim GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Leitrim. The county board is also responsible for the Leitrim inter-county teams. The county football team play in the Connacht Senior Football Championship and compete in Division 4 of the National Football League. Considered "Connacht's traditional minnows" and "one of the GAA's Cinderella counties", Leitrim are never seriously seen as likely to win a major title. They have won the Connacht Senior Football Championship on two occasions, the first in 1927 and their second in 1994.

The series of games are organised by the Connacht Council. The competition began in 1906, with Mayo winning during the inaugural year. The most successful county to date is Mayo who have won on twenty nine occasions. The 2019 Connacht Junior Football champions are Galway. The winners of the Connacht Junior Football Championship each year progress to play the other provincial champions for a chance to win the All-Ireland Junior Football Championship.
Mickey Moran is a former Gaelic footballer and manager-coach, who has been manager of Kilcoo since 2019, with a background as an inter-county manager who most recently managed the Leitrim county team. He played at senior level for the Derry county team in the 1970s and early 1980s, and played his club football for Watty Graham's Glen. He is the first man to manage five different counties.
Mickey Quinn is a former Gaelic footballer from County Leitrim, Ireland. Along with Seamus Quinn he is the only other Leitrim man to win an All Star award. He is also one of the finest Gaelic footballers Leitrim ever produced, Quinn won an All Star at Midfield in 1990 and at the time was only the second player to have never played in Croke Park to win one.
Gortletteragh are a Gaelic Athletic Association club from County Leitrim, Ireland. The club was founded in 1889 They have won Leitrim Senior Football Championship titles five times in 1905, 1970, 1981, 1985 and 1987, and Leitrim Senior Hurling Championship titles eleven times in 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1996, 1998 and 2011. Former All Star Full Back Seamus Quinn is the club's best known player. The club's Hurling team lost the senior final narrowly in 2010, while its U14 team recently won the Leitrim Féile for the first time.
St Mary's Kiltoghert, is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the parish of Kiltoghert, near Carrick-on-Shannon, County Leitrim, Ireland. The club was re-formed in March 1944. For 55 years, the club rented the Show Grounds on the Boyle Road. They have won 6 Leitrim Senior Football Championships in 1958, 1995, 2003, 2007, 2013 and 2022 they have also won a record 31 Leitrim Senior Hurling Championships including 4 in a row between 1992 and 1995 and 12 in a row between 1999 and 2010.
