Sean McAdam is a sports writer and author from the Boston area. He covers the Boston Red Sox for Boston Sports Journal and is a radio and television analyst and commentator. His first book, Boston: America's Best Sports Town, was released in April 2018. [1]

McAdam is a member of the Baseball Writers' Association of America and is eligible to vote in Baseball Hall of Fame balloting.

Before joining Boston Sports Journal, McAdam covered local sports for outlets including FoxSports.com, CSNNE.com, and The Boston Herald , in addition to The Providence Journal and ESPN.com.

Sports Writing

Following his graduation from Providence College in 1981, McAdam spent four years covering sports at WEAN, a Rhode Island radio talk station, [2] before joining The Providence Journal as a reporter. After 23 years with The Journal, with most of that tenure covering the Red Sox beat, he left to take a similar position with The Herald in October 2008. [3]

McAdam resigned from ESPN.com to join FoxSports.com in May 2009. [4]

Broadcasting

McAdam made regular appearances on WEEI-FM sports talk radio in Boston. He was a co-host on the Big Show (weekdays 2–6 p.m.) and he co-hosted The Baseball Show with ex-major leaguer Lou Merloni and colleagues Steve Buckley and Rob Bradford (Sundays 9–12 p.m.). [5]

Since 2004, Sean has also been a guest analyst during Red Sox pregame and discussion shows on NESN, the team's satellite channel. On April 10, 2009, he filled for the ill Jerry Remy as a color commentator, working in the NESN booth alongside Don Orsillo for the first two innings of Boston's 6–3 loss to the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim, California. Author

McAdam wrote Boston: America's Best Sports Town, a book that chronicles the rich history of Boston sports. The book, published by Press Box Books, was released in April 2018 to coincide with the beginning of the Red Sox's season. [7] With a foreword written by former Red Sox ace Pedro Martinez, Boston: America's Best Sports Town covers the history of the city's major pro and college sports teams, as well as local traditions such as the Boston Marathon and the Beanpot.

Personal

McAdam went to Chelmsford High School in Chelmsford, Massachusetts and is a member of the Chelmsford High School Alumni Association Hall of Fame and was inducted in 2010.[ citation needed ] McAdam resides in Littleton, Massachusetts. [8]

Don Orsillo is the play-by-play announcer for the San Diego Padres on Bally Sports San Diego and for the MLB on TBS. Orsillo was the television voice of the Boston Red Sox on NESN from 2001 to 2015. He was then hired by the Padres to replace broadcaster Dick Enberg upon his retirement at the end of the 2016 season.

Anthony Ezio Massarotti is an American author and a former sportswriter for the Boston Herald and The Boston Globe. He co-hosts a sports talk radio show, Felger & Mazz, on 98.5 The Sports Hub with former Boston Herald columnist Michael Felger. Massarotti has also served as a color commentator for the Boston Red Sox, during their 2022 season.

The Big Show is a former sports talk radio program hosted by Glenn Ordway on Boston's WEEI-FM 93.7 FM. Started in August 1995, the show was hosted by Ordway and former Boston Globe columnist Michael Holley. The show ended on March 19, 2013.

Louis William Merloni, nicknamed "Sweet Lou", is an American radio personality and a former Major League Baseball player. Merloni played for his hometown Boston Red Sox from 1998–2002 and again for part of 2003. He also played for the San Diego Padres, Cleveland Indians, and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

The Boston Red Sox Radio Network is an American radio network composed of 54 radio stations which carry English language coverage of the Boston Red Sox, a professional baseball team in Major League Baseball (MLB). Lawrence, Massachusetts station WEEI-FM (93.7 FM), which serves Boston and the Greater Boston area, serves as the network's Flagship. Dennis and Callahan was an American morning radio show on WEEI-FM, a sports radio station in Boston, Massachusetts. On November 16, 2010, a live three-hour simulcast began airing on NESN at 6–10 AM Eastern time each weekday. The show combines talk of sports and politics, along with current or "water cooler" issues. The show premiered in 1997 with Callahan and former WHDH Sports Director John Dennis, and it received strong ratings until WEEI received ratings competition in 2009 with the launch of CBS Radio's sports station, WBZ-FM (98.5); ratings have since fallen from their peak.

Sean David Grande is an American television and radio sportscaster. He is primarily known as the voice of the Boston Celtics, but has called virtually every sport over a 25-year career.

Ryan Michael Westmoreland is a former American professional baseball player. An outfielder, he played in minor league baseball in the Boston Red Sox organization. Westmoreland was considered one of the best prospects in baseball. However, his career was limited by a medical condition that has required two brain surgeries.
