Sean Scott (born June 29, 1973) is a retired American professional beach volleyball player.

Career

Scott started playing beach volleyball professionally in 1997 after playing collegiately at the University of Hawaiʻi from 1992 to 1995. [1] He joined the Association of Volleyball Professionals Tour shortly afterwards and was named the 1999 AVP Tour Rookie of the Year. [2] He's had a number of different partners throughout his career: [3]

As he neared the end of his career, he was noted for having supreme physical fitness due to his training regime and nutrition. [4] Additionally with the fall of the AVP in 2010, Scott had to find numerous other places to play which included a return to the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour and numerous other lesser-stature tours such as the National Volleyball League, Wide Open Beach Volleyball, and Pro Beach Volleyball Series. [5] He continued participation in the various leagues upon the return of the AVP Tour, which resulted in winning 14 of the 19 domestic tournaments he played in, across four different tours, in 2011 and 2012.

Personal life

Scott is married to fellow former beach volleyball player Rachel Wacholder. [6]

Rachel (Wacholder) Scott is a model and professional beach volleyball player who won eight beach volleyball championships with three partners. Scott was named Best Defensive Player 2005 and Most Improved Player on the AVP Tour in 2005. By 2009, she had played in 168 beach volleyball events, 121 domestically and 47 internationally, and earned eight victories, 22 runner-up performances, and won over $750,000 in prize money.

Founded in 1983, the AVP is headquartered in Newport Beach, California. Michael Dodd is an American retired professional beach volleyball player who attended San Diego State University. With his partner Mike Whitmarsh he won the silver medal in the men's inaugural beach volleyball tournament at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Since winning silver in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, he has worked the Olympic Games of 2000 as a beach analyst and 2004 as an indoor analyst for NBC. In 2008 Dodd coached AVP stars Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal in the Beijing Olympics. Dodd also captained Team USA to a win over Brazil's best players in the inaugural AVP World Challenge in 2009.

The duo represented Team USA at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.

Sean Michael Rosenthal is an American beach volleyball player, playing as a defender. He is best known for his high leaping ability, which has earned him the nickname of "Superman". Rosenthal has an entourage called "Rosie's Raiders", which is composed of close friends of his who enjoy going to his various tournaments to support him. He and his former partner, Jake Gibb, represented the United States at the 2008 Olympic Games and 2012 Olympic Games in beach volleyball.
