Mar Varkey Vithayathil ܡܸܛܪܵܦܘܿܠܝܼܛܵܐ ܘܬܲܪܐ ܕܟܠ ܗܸܢܕܘܿ ܡܵܪܲܢ ܡܵܪܝ ܓܝܼܘܲܪܓܝܼܣ ܡܸܛܪܵܦܘܿܠܝܼܛܵܐ C.Ss.R. was an Indian cardinal, serving as Major Archbishop of Ernakulam-Angamaly and head of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church. He was also a religious priest of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer.

Following the sudden death of Mar Varkey Vithayathil, he has also served as the Administrator of the Major Archdiocese of Ernakulam-Angamaly and of the Syro-Malabar Church. On 11 January 2014 Bishop Bosco Puthur was appointed by Pope Francis as the bishop of the Eparchy of Melbourne of St. Thomas in Australia for the Syro-Malabar Catholics. He was also appointed as the Apostolic Visitator of the Syro-Malabar Faithful in New Zealand.
Maran Mar George Cardinal Alencherry is a Syro Malabar Major Archbishop and cardinal, an Indian prelate of the Catholic Church. He is currently the Metropolitan and Gate of all India and Head of the Syro-Malabar Major Archiepiscopal Church and Major Metropolitan Archbishop of that Church. He was elected by the Holy Synod of the Syro-Malabar Church in 2011 to succeed Cardinal Maran Mar Varkey Vithayathil. He was created a cardinal of the Catholic Church on 18 February 2012. He was the first bishop of Thuckalay from 1997 to 2011.
