The Queen's Park Oval is a sports stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, used mostly for cricket matches. It opened in 1896. Privately owned by the Queen's Park Cricket Club, it is currently the second largest capacity cricket ground in the West Indies with seating for about 20,000 spectators.
The Gerhard-Hanappi-Stadion was a football stadium in Hütteldorf, in the west of Vienna, Austria. It was the home ground of Rapid Vienna. It was officially opened in 1977 as "Weststadion". In 1980 it was renamed to honour its architect, Austrian football player Gerhard Hanappi (1929–1980). Among fans the stadium was also known as "Sankt Hanappi", in reference to the fans' slogan Rapid ist uns're Religion.

The Spanish national cricket team is the team that represents Spain in international cricket. They became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 1992 and an associate member in 2017. They made their international debut in the ECC Trophy in 2001, finishing in 6th place. They played in the tournament again in 2001, this time finishing seventh. In the equivalent tournament in 2005, the European Affiliates Championship, they put in a much improved performance to finish third, just missing out on promotion to Division Two of the European Championship. They played in Division Three of that tournament in 2007 and again in 2009.
The Austrian Cricket Association is the national governing body of cricket in Austria. It was founded in 1981 by Kerry Tattersall as the Austrian Cricketers Association, following the re-introduction of cricket to Austria in 1975 with the founding of Vienna Cricket Club – as 1. Vienna Cricket Verein. Cricket was recorded as being played in Vienna as far back as the 1890s, traditionally by gardeners of mercantile families. During the post-war occupation of Austria, cricket was also played by allied forces members. Since 2017, the Austrian Cricket Association has been an associate member of the International Cricket Council, and it is one of the founding members of the European Cricket Council. The European Cricket Council, now succeeded by ICC Europe, is responsible for the administration of the ICC's European Development Program.
The European Affiliates Championship, formerly the ECC Trophy was a cricket tournament administered by the European Cricket Council for teams representing European countries. It was first played in 1999 and was last played in 2005. It has since been replaced by Division Three of the European Cricket Championship.

The matches were played at the Seebarn Cricket Ground in Lower Austria, and were the first official WT20I matches played by Belgium. Austria won the series 3–0.
Andrea-Mae Zepeda is an Austrian cricketer and medical doctor. She plays for her national cricket team as an all-rounder. In 2019, she captained the team in its first ever Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I). In 2021, she became the first player to score a century for Austria in a WT20I. In January 2022, Zepeda was named as the ICC Women's Associate Cricketer of the Year by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The Hungary cricket team toured Austria from 4 to 5 June 2022, to play a three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) bilateral series against hosts Austria. The venue for all of the matches was Seebarn Cricket Ground. The series provided both teams with preparation for the 2022–23 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier subregional tournaments. The series finished 1–1 with Austria winning the first game by 105 runs, the second game ending in a no result, and Hungary winning the final match by 4 wickets.
