The Sekondi Sports Stadium (also known as Essipong Stadium) is a multi-purpose stadium in Sekondi-Takoradi, Ghana. It is used mostly for football matches and serves as the home stadium of Sekondi Hasaacas FC. Sekondi-Takoradi Stadium hosted some matches during 2008 African Cup of Nations. The stadium has a capacity of 20,000 people and opened in 2008. [1] The stadium looks similar to the Tamale Stadium.

However on 15 March 2018, the western part of the district was split off to become Effia Kwesimintsim Municipal District; thus, the remaining part has been retained as Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan District. The 2012 Sekondi Three Nations Cup was an association football exhibition competition scheduled to take place in July 2012 as part of the participating nations' preparation for the 2013 African Youth Championship qualifying stage. The tournament was open to teams under 20 years of age, although some reports say that Namibia sent their B team. The games were originally to be hosted at the Essipong Stadium in Sekondi but the Ghanaian FA relocated the tournament to Accra.

Essipong is a town in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region of Ghana. The town is the site for the 20,000-seat multi-sport complex, the Essipong Stadium which was opened in 2008.

The 2016 CAF Confederation Cup group stage was played from 17 June to 24 August 2016. A total of eight teams competed in the group stage to decide the four places in the knockout stage of the 2016 CAF Confederation Cup.

Benin is a weaker side in the Africa Cup of Nations, and only managed four appearances in the tournament. Benin first appeared in 2004, before qualified again in 2008, 2010 and 2019. Bisa Abrewa Museum is a museum with sculptural representations of wood, clay, cement, paintings and photographs in Nkontompo in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region, Ghana. The museum has about 2,200 artifacts relating to heroes of Africa. Also sculptural pieces and photographs of the civil rights movement and other Black personalities in the French, Portuguese and Spanish Caribbean.

Sekondi Hasaacas Ladies F.C. is a Ghanaian professional women's football club based in Sekondi-Takoradi in the Western Region of Ghana. The club features in the Ghana Women’s Premier League. The club was formed as a women's club by Sekondi Hasaacas F.C. football management. It is currently the most successful women's club in Ghana after winning the Women's League on 4 occasions.
