Self-Portrait of the Artist with her Father is an oil on canvas painting by Constance Mayer, showing her with her father Pierre and (left) a bust of Raphael, to which he points as an example for her. [1] [2] First exhibited at the 1801 Paris Salon as Standing Portrait of a Father and his Daughter, it was bought at auction at Sotheby's New York in 1989 for $120,000 by its present owner, the Wadsworth Atheneum, a record price at auction for the artist until June 2023. Pieter de Hooch, was a Dutch Golden Age painter famous for his genre works of quiet domestic scenes with an open doorway. He was a contemporary, in the Delft Guild of St. Luke, of Jan Vermeer with whom his work shares themes and style. De Hooch was first recorded in Delft on 5 August 1652, when he and another painter, Hendrick van der Burgh witnessed the signing of a will. He was active in 1683, but his date of death is unknown.

Self-Portrait as a Lute Player is one of many self-portrait paintings made by the Italian baroque artist Artemisia Gentileschi. It was created between 1615 and 1617 for the Medici family in Florence. Today, it hangs in the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, Hartford, Connecticut, US. It shows the artist posing as a lute player looking directly at the audience. The painting has symbolism in the headscarf and outfit that portray Gentileschi in a costume that resembles a Romani woman. Self-Portrait as a Lute Player has been interpreted as Gentileschi portraying herself as a knowledgeable musician, a self portrayal as a prostitute, and as a fictive expression of one aspect of her identity.
