Selian River

Selian is a small river which runs off the southern slopes of Mount Meru in the northern Arusha region of Tanzania, East Africa. The town of Arusha resides to the east of Selian River.

Ngurdoto Crater is a volcanic crater in Meru District, Arusha Region, Tanzania. The crater is 3.6 km (2.2 mi) in diameter at its widest and 100 metres (110 yd) deep. Ngurdoto Crater is surrounded by forest whilst the crater floor is a swamp. It is located in Arusha National Park.

The Arusha people are a Bantu ethnic and indigenous group based in the western slopes of mount Meru in Arusha District of Arusha Region in Tanzania. The Maasai regard the Arusha people as related as they were once a part of the immigrant Maasai society that arrived in Arusha in the 18th century from Kenya. The Arusha people are not to be confused by Arusha residents who are Tanzanian people of different ethnic backgrounds that are born and reside within the borders of the Arusha Region.

Makumira is a small town located in Poli ward of Meru District in Arusha Region of northern Tanzania. It lies on the slope of Mount Meru, the fifth-highest mountain in Africa. Gelai Volcano also known as Mount Gelai stands at 2,942 metres (9,652 ft) tall and is located in Ngorongoro District, Arusha Region, Tanzania in the Crater Highlands. It is at the southeastern edge of Lake Natron in the East African Rift. Gelai is the third most prominent peak in Arusha Region and is the 13th highest peak in Arusha region. Volcanic activity on Gelai dates to less than one million years ago. A number of earthquakes occurred in the area in the summer of 2007. Associated with the largest earthquake on 17 July a NNE-oriented fracture or narrow graben formed on the southern flank of Gelai. The fracture may be associated with the intrusion of a narrow dike at a depth of around 4,000 metres (13,000 ft).
