The Sequoia Council serves Fresno, Madera, Kings and Tulare Counties in California. Founded in 1919 as the Fresno Council, it changed its name to Sequoia Council in 1925. In 1992, the Mount Whitney Area Council (#054) merged into Sequoia. [1] The council was the first in California to sponsor an all girl cub scout pack. [2]

Fresno Yosemite International Airport is a joint military–public airport in Fresno, California, United States. Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council (#055) is a Boy Scouts of America council headquartered in San Jose, California. It was the result of a council merger between the Santa Clara County Council and the Monterey Bay Area Council. In 2004, the previous two councils served over 11,000 youth in over 400 Boy Scout troops, Cub Scout packs, Venturing crews, and Explorer posts. In 2012, the Monterey Bay Area Council announced that after 89 years as a separate council, it had agreed to merge back into the Santa Clara County Council. As of 2013, the council served 13,000 youth in four different counties.

Southern Sierra Council is the northernmost council of Area 4 in Boy Scouts of America's Western Region.
The Piedmont Council (California) of BSA serves chartered organizations and BSA units located in the city of Piedmont, located in the East Bay hills and surrounded by the city of Oakland. The council was first chartered in 1921, and by some measurements is the smallest in the BSA, but has a high level of activity and serves a high percentage of the available youth living in Piedmont. The council is home to units of Scouts BSA, Cub Scouts, Venturing Crews, Police Adventures and Sea Scouts.

The SQF Complex fire—also called the SQF Lightning Complex or the Sequoia Lightning Complex—was a wildfire complex that burned in Tulare County in Central California in 2020. Comprising the Castle and Shotgun fires, it affected Sequoia National Forest and adjacent areas. Both fires began on August 19, 2020, and burned a combined total of 175,019 acres before the complex as a whole was declared 100 percent contained on January 7, 2021. In the course of the fires, 232 structures were destroyed. There were no fatalities.
Visalia Transit (VT) is the primary bus agency serving residents and visitors to Visalia, California, the largest city and county seat of Tulare County, California. It is operated by the city through its contractor (Transdev) and offers both fixed routes and dial-a-ride local service within Visalia. In 2022, the system had a ridership of 605,200, or about 2,100 per weekday as of the second quarter of 2023.
