Seren Cymru was a Welsh language newspaper. It was first published in Carmarthen in 1851 by Samuel Evans, but failed. It was more successful when it was re-established in 1856, with J. Emlyn Jones as editor. It contained local, national, and international news, and contributions from people with radical ideas. The paper was owned by the printer William Morgan Evans until 1880, after which he sold it to a Baptist company. [1]

Saunders Lewis Welsh writer and politician

Saunders Lewis was a Welsh political activist, poet, dramatist, historian and literary critic. He was a prominent Welsh nationalist and one of the founders of Plaid Genedlaethol Cymru, later known as Plaid Cymru. Lewis is usually acknowledged as one of the most prominent figures of 20th century Welsh-language literature. In 1970, Lewis was nominated for a Nobel Prize in Literature. The Wales Book of the Year is a Welsh literary award given annually to the best Welsh and English language works in the fields of fiction and literary criticism by Welsh or Welsh interest authors. Eluned Morgan (author) Argentine writer

Eluned Morgan, was a Welsh-language author from Patagonia. She was raised in Y Wladfa, a Welsh colony in Patagonia, and was taught to speak both Welsh and Spanish. Her father eventually enrolled her in Dr Williams' School in Wales, where she had to learn the English language. She led student protests against the school's English-only policy, which prohibited the use of Welsh by its students.

Seren Gomer was the first Welsh-language weekly newspaper. The first number was published in 1814 in Swansea by the local Baptist minister and writer Joseph Harris (Gomer).

The first Welsh-language comic was Ifor Owen's Hwyl which ran from 1949 to 1989.

Dewi Morgan

Dewi Morgan, also known by his bardic name "Dewi Teifi", was a Welsh bard, scholar and journalist, who won the Chair at the 1925 National Eisteddfod of Wales in Pwllheli with his important awdl recounting the legend of Cantre'r Gwaelod.

Seion, Cwmaman is a Welsh Baptist church, originally established in 1859. The chapel closed in 2013 but the church still meets at another location in the village.

David Eirwyn Morgan was a minister, journalist and Welsh nationalist politician.

Evan Owen Allen (1805–1852) was a Welsh writer and poet born at Pant-y-llin, near Llanrwst, Caernarfonshire, the son of a farmer.

Wales in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest

Wales participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2018 and 2019. Welsh broadcaster Sianel Pedwar Cymru (S4C) has been responsible for the nation's participation in the contest.
