The FIFA World Cup, often called the World Cup, is an international association football competition among the senior men's national teams of the members of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the sport's global governing body. The tournament has been held every four years since the inaugural tournament in 1930, with the exception of 1942 and 1946 due to the Second World War. The reigning champions are Argentina, who won their third title at the 2022 tournament.
Franz Anton Beckenbauer was a German professional football player, manager, and official. The 1973 CONCACAF Championship, the sixth edition of the CONCACAF Championship, was held in Haiti from 29 November to 18 December. All matches were played at Stade Sylvio Cator in Port-au-Prince. This is the first edition to double as qualification for the World Cup. Haiti became winners for the first time in the CONCACAF region and qualified for West Germany '74. The North, Central American and Caribbean zone was allocated 1 place in the World Cup.

In 1963, he was the manager of Jamaica. Earlier in 1963, he was the manager of Racing Club Haïtien, who were eventually declared winners of the 1963 CONCACAF Champions' Cup.
Philippe Vorbe is a former Haitian footballer who played as a midfielder for the Haiti national football team in the 1974 FIFA World Cup in West Germany. A legendary player in Haiti, he provided Emmanuel Sanon the pass that resulted in the famous goal that put an end to Italian goalkeeper Dino Zoff's no-goal streak. Vorbe played for the New York Generals and Violette Athletic Club. He ascended from player to leader and is now the coach of Violette.
The Canada U-17 women's national soccer team is a youth soccer team operated under the Canadian Soccer Association. Wilner Piquant is a Haitian former international footballer with Haitian club Violette A.C. who was part of the Haitian Squad at the World Cup in Germany in 1974. He played as a goalkeeper. Piquent played in three 1978 World Cup qualifiers and six 1982 World Cup qualifiers, the last of these being a 1–1 draw with Mexico in the 1981 CONCACAF Championship in Tegucigalpa. In 1978, he played in the National Soccer League with Ottawa Tigers.
Ernst Jean-Joseph was a Haitian football midfielder who played for Haiti in the 1974 FIFA World Cup. He played for Violette A.C. and briefly for Chicago Sting. In the summer of 1976, he played in the National Soccer League with Ottawa Tigers.
Serge Ducosté was a Haitian football defender who played for Haiti in the 1974 FIFA World Cup. He also played for Aigle Noir AC. He died on 5 July 2024, at the age of 80.
Guy Saint-Vil is a Haitian football forward who played for Haiti in the 1974 FIFA World Cup. He also played for Racing CH. In the United States, he played for the Baltimore Bays in their inaugural year in 1967 for the NPSL, and continued with them into the NASL in 1968. He later joined the Baltimore Comets in 1975. His younger brother, Roger Saint-Vil, was also a professional player.
Fritz Léandre was a Haitian football forward who played for Haiti in the 1974 FIFA World Cup. He also played for Racing CH. His older brother, Joseph-Marion, was also a professional player. Leandré is deceased.
