Sergey Vladimirovich Kasparov is a Belarusian chess grandmaster.
In August 2008, he played in the Arctic Chess Challenge. He finished in 8th place after an eleven-move draw against Vitaly Kunin in the final round. [2]
In January 2016, he played in the Groningen Festival, where he finished 9th after losing to eventual winner Jorden van Foreest in the final round. [3]
In April 2018, he played in the Kathmandu Open, where he was in the joint lead after the fourth round, [4] but was defeated by Shyaam Nikhil P. in the seventh round. [5]
In October 2018, he played in the Gujarat Open, where he was held to a draw by Gaurav Kumar in the final round. [6] Later that month, he played in the Goa International Open, where he defeated Vitaliy Bernadskiy in the ninth round, and was tied for first after the round. [7]
He is married to Tatiana Kasparova, with whom he has one daughter. [8] He is not related to former World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov.
Viswanathan "Vishy" Anand is an Indian chess grandmaster, a former five-time World Chess Champion and a record two-time Chess World Cup Champion. He became the first grandmaster from India in 1988, and he has the eighth-highest peak FIDE rating of all time. In 2022, he was elected the deputy president of FIDE.

The Classical World Chess Championship 1995, known at the time as the PCA World Chess Championship 1995, was held from September 10, 1995, to October 16, 1995, on the 107th floor of the South Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. Garry Kasparov, the defending champion, played Viswanathan Anand, the challenger, in a twenty-game match. Kasparov won the match after eighteen games with four wins, one loss, and thirteen draws.
Anish Kumar Giri is a Dutch chess grandmaster. A chess prodigy, he completed the requirements for the grandmaster title in 2009 at the age of 14 years, 7 months and 2 days. Giri is a five-time Dutch champion and won the Corus Chess B Group in 2010. He has represented the Netherlands at six Chess Olympiads. He has also won major international tournaments, including the 2012 Reggio Emilia tournament, 2017 Reykjavik Open, 2023 Tata Steel Chess, and shared 1st place in the 2015 London Chess Classic. In 2019 he won clear first at the Third Edition of the Shenzhen Masters.
Lê Quang Liêm is a Vietnamese chess grandmaster, the top-ranked of his country. He was awarded the title of Grandmaster by FIDE in 2006. Liêm won the Asian Chess Championship in 2019 and was the World Blitz Chess Champion in 2013.
Viktor Lvovich Korchnoi was a Soviet and Swiss chess grandmaster (GM) and chess writer. He is considered one of the strongest players never to have become World Chess Champion.
Eduardo Patricio Iturrizaga Bonelli is a Venezuelan-born Spanish chess player. He was awarded the title Grandmaster by FIDE in 2008, making him the first Venezuelan to achieve this. He competed in the FIDE World Cup in 2007, 2009, 2013, and 2015. He is a four-time Venezuelan champion and has represented his country at eight Chess Olympiads.
Robin van Kampen is a Dutch chess grandmaster. At the age of 14, he won the Dutch U20 Championship. He achieved his grandmaster (GM) title at the age of 16 years, 8 months and 17 days. Van Kampen has represented the Netherlands at the 2013 European Team Chess Championship, and at the 41st and 42nd Chess Olympiad. Van Kampen is a research analyst at Caption Partners in New York as of July 2020.
Irene Kharisma Sukandar is an Indonesian chess player and a two-time Asian women's champion. She is the first female player from Indonesia to achieve both the Woman Grandmaster (WGM) and International Master (IM) titles. She graduated from Gunadarma University. She won two gold medals at the 2013 SEA Games.
Jhr. Jorden van Foreest is a Dutch chess grandmaster. He was Dutch Chess Champion in 2016, and won the Tata Steel Masters in 2021. As of September 2023, Van Foreest is the No. 2 ranked Dutch player behind Anish Giri.
Jhr. Lucas van Foreest is a Dutch chess grandmaster. He won the Dutch Chess Championship in 2019.
Max Warmerdam is a Dutch chess grandmaster.
The Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2021 was the 83rd edition of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament. It was held in Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands from 15-31 January 2021, but was not open to visitors. The tournament was won by Jorden van Foreest, who defeated Anish Giri in an Armageddon playoff.
Jkvr. Machteld van Foreest is a Dutch chess player. She has won several Dutch Youth Championships, including the open under-12 division in 2017 and 2018, the open under-14 division in 2018, and the girls' under-10 division in 2014 at age six. She finished in joint third place at the 2019 Dutch Women's Chess Championship at age 12. She finished in joint third place and fifth overall in the girls' under-12 division at the 2019 World Cadets Chess Championship. Van Foreest has a peak FIDE rating of 2363.
