Sexy Star [lower-alpha 1] (born August 4, 1999) is the ring name of a Mexican luchadora enmascarada (or masked professional wrestler). She is currently a freelancer, working for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide as well as on the independent circuit.

Sexy Star has also previously worked as La Hija de Gatubela and Picadura Letal. [1] Her real name is not a matter of public record, as is often the case with masked wrestlers in Mexico where their private lives are kept a secret from the wrestling fans. [2]

Professional wrestling career

La Hija de Gatubela is the daughter of Mexicali-based luchadora Gatubela, and her husband, who wrestles as El Traidor. She was trained by Tapatío Jr., Black Shadow Jr., Príncipe Negro and Mr. Tempest and debuted in July 2016 in her hometown of Mexicali. [3] After several years on the independent scene, she signed with Kaoz Lucha Libre in January 2021. [4] [5] In May of the same year, she debuted in Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide at their Rey de Reyes pay-per-view event under the ring name Sexy Star, which previously belonged to another wrestler of the same name. Her contract with AAA is not exclusive, and she continues to wrestle on the independent scene, including in the United States. [6] In January 2022, Sexy Star won The Crash Women's Championship. [7] At Triplemanía XXX in Monterrey in August of the same year, she challenged for the mixed titles alongside Komander, but lost to Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti. [7] [8] On February 5, 2023, at Rey de Reyes, she won the five-woman Reina de Reinas match. [9]

Personal life

Sexy Star's mother wrestled under the name Gatubela, and her father wrestled under the name El Traidor. [4] She is in a relationship with fellow luchador Septimo Dragón who primarily wrestles in the United States and Japan. [10]

The Rey de Reyes 2010 was a major annual professional wrestling show that also hosted that year's version of the Rey de Reyes tournament, produced by the Mexican wrestling promotion AAA. The show took place on March 12, 2010 in Querétaro, Mexico at Plaza de Toros Santa Maria in Querétaro, Querétaro, Mexico. The event was the 14th event produced under the Rey de Reyes name and also the 14th time that the Rey de Reyes tournament was held. The 2010 Rey de Reyes tournament saw Chessman win the title by defeating Marco Corleone and Hernandez. In addition to the Rey de Reyes tournament, the card featured a main event for the AAA Mega Championship, where champion El Mesias lost the title to Electroshock in a match that also featured Total Nonstop Action Wrestling's (TNA) Mr. Anderson. The surprise of the evening was the return of L.A. Park to AAA after years of legal battles over the "La Parka" name, mask and likeness. Upon his return, he immediately targeted AAA's version of La Parka.

She is best known for her work in Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA), where she is a three-time AAA Reina de Reinas Champion, while also being a former one-time AAA World Mixed Tag Team Champion. She previously wrestled under the name Dulce Poly and held both the FILL Women's Championship and the FILL Mixed Tag Team Championship under that name. She worked for Lucha Underground, where she was a former Lucha Underground Champion and Gift of the Gods Champion. The 2021 Rey de Reyes was a professional wrestling tournament and supercard event produced by the Mexican Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) promotion. It was held on May 1, 2021 in San Pedro Cholula, Puebla, Mexico at an unannounced location. The event was originally scheduled to be held at the Poliforum Zamna in Merida, Yucatan on March 21, 2020. However, on March 13, AAA announced that they were postponing the 2020 Rey de Reyes show due to COVID-19 precautions.

Triplemanía XXX was a three-day professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event promoted and produced by the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. The event was held on April 30, June 18, and October 15, 2022. The April 30 event took place at Estadio de Béisbol Monterrey in Monterrey, the June 18 event took place at Estadio Caliente Xoloitzcuintles in Tijuana and the October 15 event took place at Arena Ciudad de México in Mexico City. It marked the 30th year in a row that AAA has held a Triplemanía show and comprised the 37th, 38th, and 39th overall shows held under the Triplemanía banner since 1993. The annual Triplemanía show is AAA's biggest event of the year, serving as the culmination of major storylines in what has been described as AAA's version of WrestleMania or their Super Bowl event. Held as part of AAA's 30th Anniversary Tour, Triplemanía XXX was the first Triplemanía event since 1996 to be held across three days. The event aired on PPV via the FITE TV service.
