Sgorio Cymru is a Welsh-language football television programme on S4C, featuring comprehensive highlights from the Welsh Premier League and the Welsh Cup. The show is broadcast every Monday night throughout the season. Several live matches are broadcast throughout the year.
Morgan Jones and Alun Williams present the weekly highlights show on a rotating basis with main match commentary from Bryn Tomos, reports on other games from Emyr Davies, Mike Davies, Llyr Huws Gruffydd & Gary Pritchard and a regular news round-up from Malcolm Allen.
The show was previously known as Y Clwb Pel Droed until previous producers BBC Cymru lost the rights to Welsh domestic football to S4C. During the season, an interactive service was introduced on digital satellite for English-language commentary, produced by Sunset and Vine Cymru.
The Cymru Premier, known as the JD Cymru Premier for sponsorship reasons, is the national football league of Wales. It has both professional and semi-professional status clubs and is at the top of the Welsh football league system. Prior to 2002, the league was known as the League of Wales (LoW), but changed its name as part of a sponsorship deal to the Welsh Premier League. The league was rebranded as the Cymru Premier for the 2019–20 season.
Bangor City Football Club are a Welsh football club from the City of Bangor, Gwynedd. They started the 2021–22 season in the Cymru North the second level of the Welsh football league system, but on 30 November were suspended from any football activity due to non-payment of wages. On 18 February 2022 the club announced they had withdrawn from the league and the Football Association of Wales confirmed the club's results from the league that season has been expunged. The club subsequently failed to apply for tier 2 or tier 3 licences, leaving them unable to play in any Football Association of Wales league for the 2022–23 season.
Match of the Day is a football highlights programme, typically broadcast on BBC One on Saturday nights, during the Premier League season. The 2020–21 Cymru Premier was the 29th season of the Cymru Premier, the highest football league within Wales since its establishment in 1992. Connah's Quay Nomads were the defending champions. Teams played each other twice on a home and away basis, before the league split into two groups after phase 1 matches were completed.
This is a timeline of the history of S4C, originally the fourth-oldest terrestrial television channel in Wales. Until 2010 it carried a mixture of Welsh language programmes and programmes from Channel 4 which was not broadcast on analogue TV in Wales. In 2010, Channel 4 became available in Wales on all platforms and S4C became a Welsh-language-only channel.
