Lieutenant General Shaheen Mazhar Mehmood HI(M) is a retired three-star general of the Pakistan Army,who notably commanded two major corps of Pakistan,XI Corps,Peshawar and I Corps,Mangala. [1] [2]
Shaheen Mazhar Mehmood hails from the village of Dhandi Edal Khel in the Karak District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,Pakistan. He was commissioned into the Pakistan Army in 1980 and is affiliated with the Pakistan Armoured Corps.
During his career,Mehmood held several important command and staff positions. He served as the Inspector General of the Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (North) from 2016 to 2017,where he oversaw counter-insurgency and border security operations in the tribal areas.
He was promoted to the Lieutenant General in September 2018. [3]
In October 2018,he was appointed Corps Commander of XI Corps,a key formation responsible for operations in the western region of Pakistan,including coordination with civil law enforcement agencies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. [4]
In November 2019,he was posted as Corps Commander of I Corps,Mangla —one of the Pakistan Army’s premier strike formations. He remained in this post until his retirement from active service in September 2022.
