Shahnaz Huda is a law professor at the University of Dhaka. [1] [2] [3] She is the former chairman of the Department of Law of the University of Dhaka. [4] She is a member of the Police Reform Commission of the Muhmmad Yunus led interim government of Bangladesh. [5]
Huda graduated from Viqarunnisa Noon School and College in 1978 and Holy Cross College, Dhaka in 1980. [5] She finished her bachelors and masters in law at the University of Dhaka in 1984 and 1985 respectively. [5] She earned her PhD in 1996 at the University of East London. [6] Her thesis was “Born to be Wed: Bangladeshi Women and the Formation of the Muslim Marriage Contract”. [5] She completed her post-doctoral research at the School of Oriental and African Studies of the University of London. [6]
Huda joined the law faculty of the University of Dhaka in 1989. [6]
In 2011, Huda published Combating Gender Injustice: Hindu Law in Bangladesh, a textbook for law schools in Bangladesh. [6] She is the Director of the Centre for Advanced Legal Studies (CALS). [7] She recommend banning Fatwa. [8] In 2012, she signed a statement calling the government of Bangladesh to leave Grameen Bank alone. [9] She signed a statement critical of a High Court Division order that called for sedition charges against Asif Nazrul over comments he made on a television channel where he warned another 1/11 situation might happen due to the political crisis in the country. According to Huda in 2015, Bangladeshi law does not allow Muslims to adopt children only Hindu males are allowed to adopt. [11] She presided over a symposium organized by the Bangladesh Institute of Law and International Affairs on "Revisiting Divorce and other Related Issues" in 2016. [12] She signed a statement calling for withdrawal of cases against Mahfuz Anam, editor of The Daily Star. [13]
In 2019, Huda condemned the Murder of Abrar Fahad as an attack on free speech. [14] In 2021, she signed a statement calling for the release of Rozina Islam. [15] She is an executive member of Shushashoner Jonno Nagorik. [16] She called on the government to allow former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia to travel abroad for medical treatment. [17] In 2022, she called on the government to renew registration of Odhikar. [18] In January and February 2024, she protested attempts to harass Muhmmad Yunus by the government of Bangladesh. [19] [20] After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina led Awami League government, she was appointed member of the Police Reform Commission. [21]
Begum Khaleda Zia is a Bangladeshi politician, who served as the prime minister of Bangladesh from 1991 to 1996 and again from 2001 to 2006. She was the first female prime minister of Bangladesh and second female prime minister in the Muslim world, after Benazir Bhutto. She is the widow of one of the former president of Bangladesh, Ziaur Rahman. She is the chairperson and leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) since 1984, which was founded by her husband in 1978.

He is widely seen as an influential figure in BNP and held several high-profile positions within the party, including the post of senior vice chairman.

On October 6, 2019, Abrar Fahad, a second-year student in the Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) department at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), was murdered inside BUET's Sher-e-Bangla Hall by activists of Chhatra League, the student wing of then ruling party Awami League.
Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad, abbreviated as BSRC, is a Bangladeshi student organisation. Founded by Nurul Haque Nur and Hasan Al Mamun, it is the student wing of Gono Odhikar Parishad.
General elections are expected to take place in Bangladesh following the removal of the government of Sheikh Hasina amidst the Student–People's uprising in August 2024. A constituent assembly election will take place before the general elections. Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey is a Bangladeshi journalist and diplomat. In 21 October 2024, the Ministry of Public Administration of Yunus' interim government appointed him as ambassador for three years. He is a Senior Secretary of Bangladesh government and Washington DC–based Bangladeshi journalist known for asking questions at the press briefings of the United States Department of State. He is a permanent correspondent of the United Nation headquarters. He was the assistant press secretary to Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. He was a well known critic of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Simeen Mahmud was a demographics researcher and the lead researcher at the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development at BRAC University. She was a director of the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies. She was the coordinator of the Centre for Gender and Social Transformation of BRAC University. She headed the Gender Studies Cluster at BRAC University.
Safar Raj Hossain is a retired civil servant, former Home Affairs Secretary, and chairman of the Police Administration Reform Commission formed by the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus. He is a former director general of the office of Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. He is the former secretary of the Local Government Division.

Syed Sultan Uddin Ahmed is a Bangladeshi activist and chairman of the Labor Reform Commission of the Yunus ministry. He is the executive director of the Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies. He is a workers rights specialist for the International Labour Organization. He was the coordinator of the Domestic Workers' Rights Network, affiliated with the International Domestic Workers Federation.
