Shaina Faiena Ashouri (born September 12, 1996) is an American soccer player who plays for AFC Toronto in the Northern Super League.

Early life

Ashouri played youth soccer with Real Colorado. [1]

College career

In 2014, Ashouri began attending the University of Pittsburgh, where she played for the women's soccer team. [2] She enrolled a semester early and began studying in January 2014, before joining the women's team for their season in the fall. [3] She made her debut on August 22 against the Akron Zips. [4]

In 2015, Ashouri transferred to the University of Wyoming, where she played for the women's soccer team. [5] [6] She scored her first goal on August 27, 2015 against the Hawaii Rainbow Wahine. [7] In September 2015, she was named the Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Week. [8] On September 18, 2015, she scored a hat trick in a 3-0 victory over the Idaho State Bengals. [9] At the end of the 2015 season, she was named to the All-Mountain West Conference First Team and the All-Pacific Region Third Team. [10] [11]

Club career

In 2019, she played with the TTI Bluebonnets in the Women's Premier Soccer League. [12]

She later played with Athletic Houston FC in the men's United Premier Soccer League. [13]

In September 2020, she signed a short-term contract with the Houston Dash in the National Women's Soccer League. [14]

Later in 2020, she joined ŽNK Split of the Croatian Women's First Football League starting the final league game plus making an appearance in the first round match of the UEFA Women's Champions League. [15]

In 2021, she played with the Houston Aces in the WPSL. [16]

In July 2021, she signed with Icelandic club Þór/KA in the first tier Besta deild kvenna. [17]

In December 2021, she signed with FH in the in the Icelandic second tier 1. deild kvenna for the 2022 season. [18] Halfway through the 2022 season, she was prevented from playing in the remainder of the season due to work permit issues, but after solving the issues, subsequently re-signed with the club for the 2023 season in the first tier, after having earned promotion. In March 2024, she joined Víkingur in the Icelandic first tier. [20] [21] After the 2024 season, she departed the Icelandic division, following three and a half seasons, with three different clubs. [22] [23]

In January 2025, she signed with Canadian Northern Super League club AFC Toronto. [24] [25]

In 2022, she was called up to a training camp with the Ukraine national team. [24]

Helena Ólafsdóttir is an Icelandic football manager and former player. A striker during her playing career, she is currently in her second spell as manager of the women's team at Valur in the Úrvalsdeild kvenna. A qualified sports teacher and personal trainer outside of football, Helena grew up in the town of Neskaupstaður before moving to Reykjavík aged 11. She started her career in the youth team at Víkingur Reykjavík before joining KR in the summer of 1986 and went on to score 55 goals in 64 league appearances for the club over the following five seasons. In 1992, she signed for ÍA and it was there that she won the first honours of her career as the side won both the Icelandic Women's Cup and the Icelandic Women's Super Cup that year. She went on to become one of the most successful female Icelandic footballers in history, winning four league titles and six cup winners' medals during her career.

The 2015 Úrvalsdeild karla, also known as Pepsi-deild karla for sponsorship reasons, was the 104th season of top-flight Icelandic football. Twelve teams contested the league; the defending champions were Stjarnan, who had won their first league title in 2014 going unbeaten in the league.
