The Shamrock Shotgun was an annual bonspiel, or curling tournament, that took place at the Shamrock Curling Club in Edmonton, Alberta. The tournament was held in a round robin format. The tournament was started in 2012 as part of the World Curling Tour and was last held in 2014.
The event was a re-incarnation of the previous "Shamrock Shotgun," which used to be held at the end of the season and featured top teams from across the city. The event was brought back for the 2012–13 season, but was held in the fall instead of in the spring. The event was a lower-end WCT event, created as a "regional development series". Almost every team entered in the 2012 event was from Alberta (most from the Edmonton area), save for a few international teams and a few from out of the province. [1]

The World Junior Curling Championships are an annual curling bonspiel featuring the world's best curlers who are 21 years old or younger. The competitions for both men and women occur at the same venue. The men's tournament has occurred since 1975 and the women's since 1988. Since curling became an Olympic sport in 1998, the World Junior Curling Championship of the year preceding the Olympic Games have been held at the site of the curling tournament for the upcoming Games.
The Grand Slam of Curling is a series of curling bonspiels that are a part of the annual World Curling Tour. Grand Slam events offer a purse of at least CAD$100,000, and feature the best teams from across Canada and around the World. The Grand Slam was instituted during the 2001–02 season for men and 2006–07 for women, but some of the Grand Slam events have longer histories as bonspiels.
The Saville Shootout is an annual curling tournament, held in September at the Saville Community Sports Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. It is part of the women's tour since 2006 and is one of the first events of the year. The men's event was discontinued after 2015 but was brought back in 2023. It had been running since 2004.
Erin Carmody is a Canadian curler, originally from Prince Edward Island but residing in Halifax, Nova Scotia, as of 2019. As of 2023, she plays lead on Team Marie Christianson. A native of the city of Summerside, Carmody was a biology student at the University of Prince Edward Island when she broke onto the curling scene by winning three consecutive provincial junior championships, twice with an undefeated record. She entered the national scene in 2010 after forming a rink with longtime teammate Geri-Lynn Ramsay and veteran curlers Kathy O'Rourke and Trisha Affleck that captured the 2010 provincial championships at the senior level. At the 2010 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the squad made it all the way to the final, but lost in the last match to three-time tournament champion Jennifer Jones. After the event, Carmody was presented with the Sandra Schmirler Most Valuable Player Award.
Lori Olson, better known as Lori Olson-Johns is a Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta. From 2014–2018, she played third for Val Sweeting and with Sweeting, finished runner-up at the 2015 Scotties Tournament of Hearts and won two grand slam events.

The 2012 Pomeroy Inn & Suites Prairie Showdown was held from March 8 to 11 at the Grande Prairie Curling Club in Grande Prairie, Alberta as part of the 2011–12 World Curling Tour. The event is being held in a triple knockout format. The purse for the event was a total of CAD$100,000, with the men's and women's events splitting the purse equally at CAD$50,000 apiece. The winner of each event received CAD$15,000.

Sherrard defeated Thomas Scoffin in the final with a score of 8–4, while Fujisawa defeated Kim Eun-jung in the women's final with a score of 5–2.

The men's event had a purse of CAD$22,000, and the women's event had a purse of CAD$27,000. The winning team in each event won CAD$6,000.
Taylor Rae McDonald is a Canadian curler from Edmonton. She currently plays second on Team Kate Cameron. McDonald previously played second for Team Laura Walker and Team Kelsey Rocque, with whom she won gold at the 2014 World Junior Curling Championships and the 2017 Winter Universiade.

It was held February 17–21, 1993 at the Calgary Curling Club in Calgary, Alberta. The total purse for the event was $120,000, with the winning team receiving $40,000.
