Shane Nelson (born November 29, 1984) is an American mixed martial artist. He was a cast member of SpikeTV's The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir . In addition to the UFC, Nelson has also competed for the MFC, Shooto, and Shark Fights.
For the last six years, Nelson has trained with former UFC Lightweight Champion B.J. Penn. Nelson has worked in construction, and now trains full-time with Troy Mandaloniz and Kendall Grove.
Nelson earned a spot in the house by defeating Charles Diaz via decision after two rounds. Later on, the fighters were given the opportunity to watch UFC 84 on TV. While watching, Junie Browning and Shane began drinking. The pair soon became belligerent and started to throw things into the pool and attempted to pick fights with the other fighters. The next day, UFC President Dana White came to the house and expressed his displeasure with the Nelson and Browning's actions. He announced his decision to give them a second chance and did not kick them off of the show. White then spoke to the coaches to ensure that Nelson would be in the first Lightweight fight. Efrain Escudero defeated Shane in the second round with a head triangle.
Nelson won his UFC debut against former The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir castmate George Roop. Nelson won the fight via split decision. [2]
Nelson had his second fight in the UFC defeating Aaron Riley at UFC 96, Nelson won via TKO 44 seconds into the first round. [3] [4] The stoppage is being called one of the worst in UFC history. Nelson was later defeated by Riley via unanimous decision in a rematch at UFC 101.
Nelson was released from the UFC after losing to Matt Wiman via unanimous decision at UFC 107. [5]
Nelson was set to fight Shinya Aoki on very short notice at DREAM. Fight for Japan!. However, Aoki declined to fight Nelson, and he was replaced by Rich Clementi. [6]

Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira, better known as Minotauro or Big Nog, is a Brazilian retired mixed martial artist. He competed in the heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is a former Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion. He is the twin brother of UFC fighter Antônio Rogério Nogueira. Nogueira rose to prominence in Japanese promotions Fighting Network RINGS where he won the 2000 RINGS King of Kings tournament, and later with Pride Fighting Championships, where he was the first Pride Heavyweight Champion from November 2001 to March 2003, as well as a 2004 PRIDE FC Heavyweight Grand Prix Finalist. He is one of only three men to have held championship titles in both Pride Fighting Championships and the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Francisco Santos Miranda, is an American mixed martial artist who competes in the Heavyweight division. He formerly competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) for sixteen years, and Bellator MMA. A former UFC Heavyweight Champion, he holds the record for the most finishes and the most submission victories in UFC Heavyweight history. Mir possessed the longest uninterrupted tenure of any fighter in UFC history, competing for the company from 2001 to 2016. He was the first man to knock out and the first to submit Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira.
Richard Thomas Clementi is a former American mixed martial artist. Clementi has fought for the Ultimate Fighting Championships, Bellator, K-1 Hero's DREAM, King of the Cage, and Titan FC.
Shinya Aoki is a Japanese mixed martial artist, professional wrestler and grappler currently competing in ONE Championship's Welterweight division. He also competes in DDT Pro-Wrestling where he is a former three-time DDT Extreme Champion. A professional competitor since 2003, he is noted for being the DREAM Lightweight Champion, former two time ONE Lightweight World Champion, former WAMMA Lightweight Champion and former Shooto Welterweight Champion. Aoki is an A-class Shootist and BJJ black belt, both under his long-term mentor Yuki Nakai, as well as a black belt Judoka. As of 2008, Aoki, along with DEEP champion Masakazu Imanari, and Sengoku champion Satoru Kitaoka have founded the "Nippon Top Team" as a group of elite Japanese grapplers competing in MMA. As well as his MMA credentials, Aoki has garnered several submission grappling accolades including two All Japan Jiu-Jitsu Championships, a Japan Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship, a Budo Open Championship, and an ADCC Japan Championship.
Marcus Aurélio Martins is a Brazilian former mixed martial artist. He formerly fought for the PRIDE Fighting Championships and for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He currently does stunt and mo-cap work, after an MMA career with fights as a lightweight, and primarily employs Capoeira.
James Varner is a retired American mixed martial artist who fought in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is the former WEC Lightweight Champion.
Eddie Alvarez is an American professional mixed martial artist and bare-knuckle boxer who most recently competed in the Welterweight division of BKFC. He also formerly competed in the UFC and Bellator MMA, and also One FC winning world titles in each of the first two: the UFC Lightweight Championship once and the Bellator Lightweight World Championship twice. Alvarez was the first Lightweight champion in Bellator MMA. He has also competed for the Japanese DREAM promotion, where he fought in their inaugural Lightweight Grand Prix. Efraín Escudero is a Mexican mixed martial artist. He trains under Drew Fickett and competes in the 155 lb (70.3 kg) weight class. Efrain was the winner of season eight of Spike TV's reality show The Ultimate Fighter.
The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir is the eighth installment of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) produced reality television series The Ultimate Fighter, which went into production in late May 2008 and premiered on September 17, 2008 on Spike TV. This season features Light Heavyweight fighters (186–205 lb) and Lightweight fighters (146–155 lb).

George H. Roop is a retired mixed martial artist. He was a cast member of Spike TV's The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir, winning his preliminary and first round fights. He fought as a bantamweight in the UFC and most recently fought under the Road FC banner. He holds notable victories over former WEC Bantamweight champion Brian Bowles and UFC featherweight contender Chan Sung Jung.
