Shannon Rebecca Saunders (born 4 July 1994), known professionally as iiola is an English singer-songwriter from Wiltshire.
Saunders started writing and producing songs at the age of 13. She attended the Royal Wootton Bassett Academy and the Stagecoach Drama School. [1] [2]
She left school at sixteen to study song writing at BIMM in Bristol for a year before heading for London to pursue her career. [1] [2] [3]
In 2009 Saunders was inspired by Justin Bieber to start a YouTube channel, where she posted covers of songs, as well as her own originals. [3] [4] [5] As of January 2023, she has over 58,300 subscribers and nearly 2 million total upload views. [6]
In 2010 Saunders sang "I See the Light" for the UK release of Tangled. [1] She was discovered by Disney Channel UK via her YouTube channel and asked to audition after winning the My Camp Rock contest that same year. [1] [2] [4] In 2011 she was invited to sing "The Glow" for a London event celebrating the induction of Rapunzel to the Disney Princess franchise. [7]
Her first single was released under the name Shannon Saunders, "Heart of Blue", was released on her own label, Lovejoy Records. [8] It peaked at #48 on the iTunes charts. [8] [9] The music video, whose production only costs nine pounds, [8] featured Saunders running barefoot through Oxford Street, London filmed by Damian Weilers.
Whilst touring in 2013 Shannon independently released Atlas and created the official music video incorporating her live performances and interactions with her fanbase.
In 2014 Saunders released two singles: "Sheets" and "Silly Little Things". [8] [9]
In 2015, she released an EP in partnership with Caroline International titled Instar. After performing stripped back live versions of the EP on SBTV one of her songs "LO-FI", co-written and produced by Dee Adam, was then picked up and sampled by frumhere on his track "she only likes me when i'm drunk".
Following the success of the "Heart of Blue" video, Saunders teamed up again with director Damian Weilers to create a music video for her song "Pure" (produced and co-written by Mark Wilkinson and Dee Adam). The video was shot at Reynisfjara, the black-sand beach found on the south coast of Iceland, and had minimal electronic elements and electric guitar. [10]
"Rips in your Jeans" was released in 2017 [11] and highlights a self-directed and produced video featuring Saunders' fanbase. It was shot by her with the help of Raja Virdi in East London's vintage store 'Atika'.
The last track released under Saunders' birth name, "Still", was created as an awareness track for mental health issues and was supported by Heads Together, a charity under The Royal Foundation umbrella.
In 2018 Saunders released her debut four track EP titled Chrysalis under her new artist's name iiola. Spotify UK added all three singles from Chrysalis to New Music Fridays. [12] Live stripped back versions of the first two singles are available on YouTube. [13] [14]
iiola is a firm favorite of BBC Introducing and is currently writing her debut album whilst creating and designing her live show.

"Can't Blame a Girl for Trying" is the debut single by American singer Sabrina Carpenter from her debut extended play of the same name (2014), serving as the opening track of the EP. The track appears on her debut studio album, Eyes Wide Open, serving as the second track of the record. The song was produced by Brian Malouf and written by Meghan Trainor, Al Anderson and Chris Gelbuda. The song was released by Hollywood Records as the lead single from Can't Blame a Girl for Trying on March 14, 2014 onto iTunes and was premiered a day before exclusively on Radio Disney. "Can't Blame a Girl for Trying" is a midtempo pop folk song with influences of pop music backed by an acoustic guitar. Lyrically, the song speaks about being foolish in love and making mistakes, but never blaming those who make them. According to Carpenter, the song perfectly describes a thirteen-year-old girl and a teenage girl.

Faouzia Ouihya, known mononymously as Faouzia, is a Moroccan-Canadian singer-songwriter and musician best known for her track "Tears of Gold". Born in Morocco, she moved with her family to Canada at a young age. During that time she learned how to play various instruments, and began composing her first songs. She released several singles and collaborated with many musicians on vocals and songwriting prior to releasing her debut extended play (EP), Stripped, in August 2020. In 2023, she was nominated and was one of the recipients of the Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards.
Love + Fear (Acoustic) is the seventh extended play by Welsh singer and songwriter Marina. It was released digitally on 13 September 2019 by Atlantic Records and contains five acoustic versions of songs that originally appeared on Marina's fourth studio album, Love + Fear (2019). The EP was first announced just weeks prior to its release and Benjamin Fletcher serves as the sole producer. While deciding on the track listing for the EP, Marina chose songs from the album that she felt very comfortable with and would translate well when stripped-down.
