Shantanu Anant Tambeis an Indian filmmaker, screenwriter and producer. He is the son of Anant Ramji Tambe, a poet from Maharashtra. He is known in the Marathi film industry for directing the successful Marathi films Majhi Shaala (2013), Yaari Dosti (2016).

In 2021, Shantanu launched 3S Movies, a production company in Mumbai. Its first release was the critically acclaimed social-drama film Dashmi (2024).

Early and personal life

Shantanu is from a Marathi family where his father Anant Ramji Tambe is a poet in Maharashtra. Father is always the inspiration for Shantanu's career and social life. His cinematic journey began in 1993, taking root in the renowned Filmistan Studio, where he started working as a studio lightman.[ citation needed ]

Career

In early 1998, with the self-learning on-set experience, Shantanu joined Tijori Films, a film production company founded by Deepak Tijori, where he assisted directors including Anant Mahadevan, Arun Frank, Manish Khandelwal, Vikram Bhatt, and others. He also wrote and assisted numerous concepts for the Tijori Films. After 11 years of experience at Tijori Films, Shantanu independently directed a Marathi TV series Baba - Ek Atoot Naate... produced by Trikuta Films, which was telecasted in 2009 on Mi Marathi channel's exclusive section, Ek Soneri Paan. It was the highest TRP-grossing series on the channel.

Shantanu then started his own production house, 3S Movies, and directed its first film Dashmi (2024), a social-drama film. [1]
