Shanti Bon[ clarification needed ] is park located in Hojai, Assam in Northeast India. Shanti Bon is situated near Deshabandhu Bidyapith HS High School, Hojai in Hojai. [1]

There are different kinds of flowers. The place has a small and clean pond with thousands of fishes, A temple of Maa Kali, Shiv & Radhe Krishna. It has a children's park also.

Originally, this place was a Hindu cremation ground until 2019. [2]

Hojai riots refers to the riots that took place between Hindus and Muslims in Hojai, Assam in 1993, in the wake of the Demolition of the Babri Masjid. 90 Hindus and Muslims were killed in the riots by some supporters of the Idgah Protection Force. The incident started with a tiff between a photo shop owner and a customer. Prior to the deadly incidents in July 1993, rioting in Hojai district had already kicked off as early as December 1992, with police and militant groups such as ULFA reportedly forcibly putting down some of the unrest.

The university is established by Rabindranath Tagore University Bill, 2017 which was passed by the Government of Assam on 7 September 2017. It was created by upgradation of Hojai College of Hojai, Hojai district.

Ardhendu Kumar Dey was an Indian politician and Minister of Irrigation and Soil Conservation in the Government of Assam. He was elected to the Assam Legislative Assembly from Hojai constituency from 1991 till 2006 as a member of INC. He was re-elected as an MLA from Hojai from 2011 to 2016. In April 2021, he left the Indian National Congress.
