A beauty pageant is a competition that has traditionally focused on judging and ranking the physical attributes of the contestants. Pageants have now evolved to include inner beauty,with criteria covering judging of personality,intelligence,talent,character,and charitable involvement,through private interviews with judges and answers to public on-stage questions. The term beauty pageant refers originally to the Big Four international beauty pageants.
Miss World is the oldest existing international beauty pageant. It was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in 1951. Since his death in 2000,Morley's widow,Julia Morley,has co-chaired the pageant. Along with Miss Universe,Miss International,and Miss Earth,it is one of the Big Four international beauty pageants.
Miss World 2006,the 56th edition of the Miss World pageant,was held on 30 September 2006 at the Sala Kongresowa,the main 2,897-seat auditorium of the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw,Poland. It was the first time ever that the pageant was held in the Continental Europe and a European city other than London,United Kingdom,having previously been held there in 2002 after the Nigeria Controversy. The pageant officially concluded after Taťána Kuchařováfrom the Czech Republic was crowned Miss World 2006 by outgoing titleholder Unnur Birna Vilhjálmsdóttir of Iceland.
Miss Universe 2003 was the 52nd Miss Universe pageant,held at the Figali Convention Center in Panama City,Panama on June 3,2003.

Miss Earth 2013,the 13th edition of the Miss Earth pageant,was held on December 7,2013 at the Versailles Palace in Las Piñas,Metro Manila,Philippines. Tereza Fajksováof the Czech Republic crowned her successor Alyz Henrich of Venezuela at the end of the event.

The Miss British Virgin Islands is a national beauty pageant in British Virgin Islands. The pageant was founded in 1976,where the winners were sent to Miss Universe.

Miss World 2016,the 66th edition of the Miss World pageant,was held on 18 December 2016,at the MGM National Harbor,Oxon Hill,Maryland,United States. 117 contestants from all over the world competed for the crown. Mireia Lalaguna of Spain crowned her successor Stephanie Del Valle of Puerto Rico at the end of the event. It was the second time that the Miss World pageant held in the United States. It was the second time where Puerto Rico won Miss World,after Wilnelia Merced in 1975.
A'yana Keshelle Phillips is a model and beauty pageant titleholder from both the British Virgin Islands &US Virgin Islands who was crowned Miss British Virgin Islands 2018 &Miss World US Virgin Islands 2019. She represented the British Virgin Islands in the 2018 Miss Universe pageant but unplaced. She also represented US Virgin Islands at Miss World 2019 pageant.
