Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work (SAVW) is an award bestowed by the government of the United Arab Emirates to recognize the contributions of the works of volunteers in both public and private sectors. It is the first of its kind in the UAE and the Arab world bestowed annually by the sovereign ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah. It is administered by the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work's board of trustees. [2]
It is bestowed upon any individual, institution, groups, and organisations, including in public and private sectors. It is focused on recognizing volunteer work such as spreading awareness programs concerning volunteer initiatives offered by government and NGOs. [3]
It was established in 2001 by the decree no. 2 issued by the member of the Federal Supreme Council and ruler of Sharjah, Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi. [2]
The Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work was constituted to recognize the significant contributions of the public and private vendors in the field of volunteer work, including in social, humanitarian and education fields across the UAE and the Arab world. [4]

Jebel Buhais or Jebel Al-Buhais is a geological feature, an extensive rocky outcrop, as well as an archaeological site located near Madam in the central region of the Emirate of Sharjah, the UAE, about 48 kilometres southeast of the city of Sharjah. The area contains an extensive necropolis, consisting of burial sites spanning the Stone, Bronze, Iron and Hellenistic ages of human settlement in the UAE. Burials at Jebel Buhais date back to the 5th Millennium BCE. The site is located to the side of a limestone outcrop rising to some 340 metres above sea level and which runs almost contiguously from the town of Madam north to the town of Mleiha, itself an important archaeological site.

In 2022, heavy rains caused floods in the United Arab Emirates, lasting from 27 to 29 July 2022. Cities of the northern Emirates, mainly Kalba and Fujairah, and different areas of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, were affected by the heavy rains. According to the Emirati National Center for Meteorology, this was the country's heaviest rainfall recorded in 27 years.
