Shriya Saran

Shriya Saran Bhatnagar (pronounced [ʃrɪja səɾən]; also known as Shriya, is an Indian actress and model who works predominantly in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi language films. Saran was born in Dehradun and spent most of her childhood in Haridwar. In 2001, her dance master gave her the opportunity to appear in Renoo Nathan's debut music video "Thirakti Kyun Hawa", which brought Saran to the attention of many Indian filmmakers. Although Saran aspired to become a well-known dancer, she was offered a leading role. Thus, Saran made her film debut in 2001 with the Telugu film Ishtam, and had her first commercial success with Santhosham.

Rowthiram is a 2011 Indian Tamil-language action film written and directed by newcomer Gokul. Produced by R. B. Choudary, the film stars his son Jiiva and Shriya Saran in lead roles with Sentrayan, Jayaprakash and Lakshmi Ramakrishnan appearing in supporting roles. The story line of Roudram is nearly equal to the movie Siva starring Nagarjuna Akkineni. It released on 12 August 2011. It is dubbed into Telugu as Roudram and in Hindi as Nirbhay: The Fighter in 2012. The film opened to mixed reviews because of its weak storyline. However Jeeva and Shriya received positive response from the critics and praises for their actings. After a few days after the release the ending of the film had changed according to the response to the film by the audience and it had been changed to a positive ending.

Chandra is a 2013 Indian fantasy film, simultaneously made in Kannada and Tamil languages. Directed by Roopa Iyer, it features Shriya Saran and Prem Kumar in the lead roles. The film deals with the life of a last generation princess and her love story. Chandra is a joint production of India Classic Arts and Narasimha Arts. The film was released on 27 June 2013 to positive reviews and emerged as a high success at the Kannada Box office. The Tamil version of the film was released on 14 February 2014.

The 2nd South Indian International Movie Awards were presented on September 12–13, 2013 in Sharjah, UAE, to honour the best cinematic achievements of the South Indian film industry in the year 2012. Initially planned for June 20–21, the date was postponed due to "100 years of Indian cinema" jubilee festivities. The ceremony was hosted by Arya, Shriya Saran, Rana Daggubati and Sonu Sood at the Expo Centre Sharjah, while the "Generation Next Awards Night" was hosted a day before by Parvathy Omanakuttan and Ash Chandler. Differing from the 1st SIIMA Awards, technical Awards were presented on the first day as well. Show performances were delivered by Shruthi Haasan, Hansika Motwani, Shriya Saran, Rima Kallingal, Usha Uthup, Pranitha Subhash, Anirudh Ravichander, Ragini Dwivedi, Aindrita Ray, Andrea Jeremiah, Parul Yadav, Remya Nambeesan, Lakshmi Menon, Regina Cassandra and Meera Nandan.
