Shruti box

A shruti box is an instrument, originating from the Indian subcontinent, that traditionally works on a system of bellows. It is similar to a harmonium and is used to provide a drone in a practice session or concert of Indian classical music. It is used as an accompaniment to other instruments and notably the flute. The shruti box is also used in classical singing. In classical singing, the shruti box is used to help tune the voice. The use of the shruti box has widened with the cross-cultural influences of world music and new-age music to provide a drone for many other instruments as well as vocalists.

Shruti or śruti[ɕrʊtɪ] is a Sanskrit word, found in the Vedic texts of Hinduism where it means lyrics and "what is heard" in general. It is also an important concept in Indian music, where it means the smallest interval of pitch that the human ear can detect and a singer or musical instrument can produce. The musical shruti concept is found in ancient and medieval Sanskrit texts such as the Natya Shastra, the Dattilam, the Brihaddeshi, and the Sangita Ratnakara. Chandogya Upanishad speaks of the division of the octave in 22 parts.

2nd South Indian International Movie Awards

The 2nd South Indian International Movie Awards were presented on September 12–13, 2013 in Sharjah, UAE, to honour the best cinematic achievements of the South Indian film industry in the year 2012. Initially planned for June 20–21, the date was postponed due to "100 years of Indian cinema" jubilee festivities. The ceremony was hosted by Arya, Shriya Saran, Rana Daggubati and Sonu Sood at the Expo Centre Sharjah, while the "Generation Next Awards Night" was hosted a day before by Parvathy Omanakuttan and Ash Chandler. Differing from the 1st SIIMA Awards, technical Awards were presented on the first day as well. Show performances were delivered by Shruthi Haasan, Hansika Motwani, Shriya Saran, Rima Kallingal, Usha Uthup, Pranitha Subhash, Anirudh Ravichander, Ragini Dwivedi, Aindrita Ray, Andrea Jeremiah, Parul Yadav, Remya Nambeesan, Lakshmi Menon, Regina Cassandra and Meera Nandan.

She is a recipient of several accolades, including the Karnataka State film award, three Filmfare Awards South, a SIIMA award, and a special mention at the 66th National film awards for her performance in Nathicharami. She was voted Most Desirable Woman of 2018 by the Bangalore Times readers.

Shruthi is a 1990 Indian Kannada-language musical-drama film directed and produced by Dwarakish. The story is a remake of the successful Tamil film Pudhu Vasantham (1990) directed and written by Vikraman. The film starred Sunil, Indudhar, Honnavalli Krishna, Srivatsa, Dileep and Shruti in the lead roles. It was through this film Shruti got her screen name which became her identity throughout her career. The music was composed by S. A. Rajkumar to the lyrics of Chi. Udaya Shankar, M. N. Vyasa Rao and R. N. Jayagopal.

Vandhal Sridevi is an Indian Tamil language drama starring Ananya, Nandhan Loganadhan, Lasya Nagraj, Meera Krishnan and Devi Priya. It is the remake of the Kannada language serial Lakshmi Baramma of Colors Kannada. The show replaced Enga Veetu Mapillai and aired on Colors Tamil from 18 April 2018 to 28 June 2019.
