Sidewire was a political news analysis platform available for the iOS marketplace. It was founded in 2012 by Andy Bromberg and Tucker Bounds, former spokesperson for the 2008 presidential campaign of John McCain. [1] The app was launched at the beginning of the 2016 election cycle, originally billed as "Twitter for politics." Sidewire failed to build a substantial user base, and by June 2017 Sidewire ran out of investment and ceased operations. [1] [2]
Sidewire was founded in 2012 by Andy Bromberg and Tucker Bounds. [3] It was started with $4.85 million in seed funding from Spark Capital, with participation from Goldcrest Capital. [3] The platform was launched in September 2015 as an app in the iOS marketplace. In June 2017, having burned through their funding and unable to secure further investment, Sidewire ceased operations. [1]
Sideline was curated by political journalists, analysts, candidates, campaign managers, and elected officials. [3] Curators were responsible for uploading links to news and then providing a 250 character summary. The information was then pushed to the Sideline platform and also Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. [3] Initial curators included analysts and journalists from The Wall Street Journal , The New York Times , The Washington Post , ABC News , and NBC News . [4]

Facebook is a social media and social networking service owned by the American technology conglomerate Meta. Created in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg with four other Harvard College students and roommates Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes, its name derives from the face book directories often given to American university students. Membership was initially limited to Harvard students, gradually expanding to other North American universities. Since 2006, Facebook allows everyone to register from 13 years old, except in the case of a handful of nations, where the age limit is 14 years. As of December 2022, Facebook claimed almost 3 billion monthly active users. As of October 2023, Facebook ranked as the third-most-visited website in the world, with 22.56% of its traffic coming from the United States. It was the most downloaded mobile app of the 2010s.
Windows Phone (WP) is a discontinued mobile operating system developed by Microsoft for smartphones as the replacement successor to Windows Mobile and Zune. Windows Phone featured a new user interface derived from the Metro design language. Unlike Windows Mobile, it was primarily aimed at the consumer market rather than the enterprise market.
Tucker Bounds is a public relations professional, who has been active in Republican politics. He served as a spokesperson for the McCain 2008 presidential campaign. Bounds also served as the Deputy Campaign Manager, Communications, for former eBay CEO Meg Whitman's 2010 gubernatorial campaign in California. He is currently a Vice President of Communications at Facebook, in Menlo Park, California. He is also the co-founder of Sidewire, a political news analysis platform.
Snaptu pronounced "snap tu", previously known as Moblica was a free Israeli-made mobile application platform that ran on virtually every type of Internet-enabled mobile phone. It allowed the user to access popular services, varying from social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, ESPN CricInfo and Picasa to entertainment news, blogs, sports and local guides.

Skyfire is a software company founded in 2007, and acquired by Opera Software ASA, now Otello Corporation, in 2013. In 2015, the company became the Network Solutions division of Opera, and ceased using the Skyfire brand name. They offer network optimization technologies including video optimization and monetization tools for carriers. Skyfire discontinued its Skyfire Web Browser in 2014 in order to consolidate its focus on its mobile operator technology. Skyfire was funded by venture capital, and was acquired by Opera Software ASA in March 2013.
Vine was an American short-form video hosting service where users could share up to 10-second-long looping video clips. It was originally launched on January 24, 2013, by Vine Labs, Inc and Big Human. Bought by Twitter, Inc. in 2012 before its launch, the service was shut down on January 17, 2017, and the app was discontinued a few months later.
