Sierra Kay Kusterbeck (born December 18, 1990), better known as Sierra Kay, is an American singer-songwriter and model. She rose to prominence as the lead vocalist of the rock band VersaEmerge.
Kusterbeck was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. [1] She began taking vocal lessons in the third grade. [2] She attended the arts-centric PCCA Gibbs High School in St. Petersburg for three years as a Musical Theatre major, [3] but dropped out of high school to pursue music as a career.
Kusterbeck auditioned to be VersaEmerge's lead vocalist in 2006, by sending a tape of herself singing one of VersaEmerge's songs, "The Blank Static Screen". [4]
VersaEmerge released their first EP with Kusterbeck on vocals, Perceptions, in May 2008. They were signed to Fueled by Ramen in 2008, and they released their self-titled EP in 2009 and their debut album Fixed at Zero the following year.
In October 2010, Kusterbeck appeared alongside her bandmates from VersaEmerge on the MTV documentary series called World of Jenks, which followed the band around documenting their experiences performing at Warped Tour. The episode focused mainly on Sierra, covering her experiences as a young and new female lead in a male dominated genre. [5]
In 2016, Kay and Nick Fit of Trash Talk started the band Neaux (pronounced "nOH"). Described as an Indie/post-punk band, they released their debut album "Fell Off The Deep End" in 2016. [6]
In August 2017, they announced the release of their second album, Chain Up The Sun, released on The Native Sounds.
On September 16, 2019, Kay released her debut single "Im too much", as Bad Daughter on bandcamp. [7]
On February 13, 2020, Kay released the single "Disappear", as Bad Daughter on bandcamp. [8]
On May 10, 2020, Kay released the single "Fucking Depressed", as Bad Daughter on bandcamp. [9]
Kay is featured on fellow Floridian band A Day to Remember's song, "If It Means a Lot to You," from their third album titled Homesick . Kay has been shown in live videos singing the song with the band.
Kay featured on English rapper Professor Green's album At Your Inconvenience , on the track "Avalon". The track was later used as part of an advertising campaign for the energy drink Relentless.
In mid to late 2011, Kay revealed that she was called to be the face of a line of shoes for Payless, a shoe company, called Brash. The line was released in early August. [10] [11]
She currently lives in Brooklyn, New York.

"The Rock Show" is a song by American rock band Blink-182 for the group's fourth studio album, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket (2001). It was released as the lead single from the album on May 7, 2001. The track was composed primarily by bassist Mark Hoppus about meeting a girl at a rock concert. It was inspired by the band's early days touring punk rock clubs, mainly Soma in their hometown of San Diego.
Michael Kenji Shinoda is an American musician, songwriter, rapper, singer, record producer and graphic designer. He co-founded the rock band Linkin Park in 1996 and is the band's co-lead vocalist, as well as rhythm guitarist, keyboardist, primary songwriter and producer. Shinoda later created a hip-hop-driven side project, Fort Minor, in 2004. He has also served as a producer for tracks and albums by artists such as Lupe Fiasco, Styles of Beyond, and the X-Ecutioners.
Alternative Tentacles is an independent record label established in 1979 in San Francisco, California. It was used by Dead Kennedys for the self-produced single "California Über Alles". After realizing the potential for an independent label, they released records for other bands as well. Dead Kennedys guitarist East Bay Ray and vocalist Jello Biafra formed Alternative Tentacles, but Biafra became the sole owner in the mid-1980s. Alternative Tentacles no longer owns the rights to Dead Kennedys recordings after a 2000 lawsuit.
Skate punk is a skater subculture and punk rock subgenre that developed in the 1980s. Originally a form of hardcore punk that had been closely associated with skate culture, skate punk evolved into a more melodic genre of punk rock in the 1990s similar to pop punk. Chad Everett Gilbert is an American musician and record producer. He is best known as a founding member of the rock band New Found Glory, for whom he plays lead guitar, sings backing vocals, and composes music. He was also the lead vocalist for the band's now-defunct side-project, International Superheroes of Hardcore. Additionally, Gilbert was the vocalist for the hardcore punk band Shai Hulud between 1995 and 1998, and from 2012 to 2013.
Sidi Bou Said were a British rock band formed in 1990 by Claire Lemmon, Gayl Harrison and Melanie Woods. Their music combined an indie rock/folk sound with complex arrangements and literate lyrics. They were often compared to Throwing Muses and the Pixies, with whom they shared a taste for sometimes uncomfortable lyrical themes—murder, religion, the workings of the human body and surrealist stories and films. A Day to Remember is an American rock band from Ocala, Florida, formed in 2003 by guitarist Tom Denney and drummer Bobby Scruggs. They are known for their amalgamation of metalcore and pop-punk. The band currently consists of vocalist Jeremy McKinnon, rhythm guitarist Neil Westfall, percussionist/drummer Alex Shelnutt and lead guitarist Kevin Skaff.
Homesick is the third studio album by American rock band A Day to Remember, produced by Chad Gilbert and the band, and released on February 3, 2009. It was the band's second album for Victory. The album features material written while the band had been touring, which Andrew Wade helped them demo. Recording took place between October and November 2008 at The Wade Studio, located in Ocala. Featured on the album are guest vocalists Mike Hranica, Vincent Bennett and Sierra Kusterbeck (VersaEmerge). Several of the album's songs appeared on the band's MySpace profile before the release of the album.
Versa was an American rock duo formed in Port St. Lucie, Florida, in 2006, as VersaEmerge. The group consisted of Blake Harnage and Sierra Kay. They had a revolving line-up, their most prolific being with bassist Devin Ingelido, who was a member from 2007 until 2011.
The discography of American rock band A Day to Remember consists of seven studio albums, three video albums, three extended plays, and twenty-two singles. The band signed to Indianola in February 2005 and released their debut album And Their Name Was Treason a few months later. Their second album, For Those Who Have Heart, was released in January 2007 and peaked at number 17 on the Heatseekers Album chart in the US; a re-release charted at number 43 on the Independent Albums chart in the US. Released in February 2009, Homesick charted at number 21 on the Billboard 200 chart and at number 1 on the Independent Albums chart. What Separates Me from You is the fourth studio album by American rock band A Day to Remember, and their third and final for Victory Records. Originally planned for release in late-October 2010, the album was delayed by a few weeks until mid-November. What Separates Me from You was released on November 15, 2010, in the UK, and on November 16 in the US. The album, which was recorded mainly at The Wade Studios in Ocala, Florida, from May to July 2010, was the first to feature guitarist Kevin Skaff. The album was produced mostly by Chad Gilbert, with help from Andrew Wade and the band's vocalist, Jeremy McKinnon. "All I Want" was released as the first single. It reached number 12 on the U.S. Alternative Songs chart and number 25 on the Rock Songs chart.
Artist vs. Poet was an American pop punk band from Fort Worth, Texas, United States, formed in late 2007 by Jason Dean, Craig Calloway, Jeff Olsen, Patrick Rigden, Joe Kirkland, Joe Westbrook, and Tarcy Thomason.
