Simon Barry (born 25 September 1966) is a Canadian screenwriter, film producer, director and television producer.

Career

Barry is best known for his work on the Canadian sci-fi series Continuum (2012–2015). In 2013, building on his track record on Continuum, he joined Stephen Hegyes as co-founders of Reality Distortion Field, a Vancouver-based production company that develops original content for sci-fi, horror, and fantasy genres. [2]

Through Reality Distortion Field, Barry is show-runner and executive producer for the Netflix fantasy series Warrior Nun (2020). [3]

In May 2024, Barry was reported to be showrunner for a live-action English TV series adaptation of the manga Kakegurui , which will be titled BET. [4]

Developed as a feature film adaptation, the idea was re-imagined as a television series for Netflix when the service had given the production a series order for a first season. Filming takes place in multiple locations in Andalusia, Spain, such as Antequera, where the headquarters of the fictional Order of the Cruciform Sword was filmed.

3 Body Problem is an American science fiction television series created by David Benioff, D. B. Weiss and Alexander Woo and the third streaming adaptation of the Chinese novel series Remembrance of Earth's Past written by former computer engineer Liu Cixin. Its name comes from the first volume, The Three-Body Problem, of the novel series and refers to a classical physics problem dealing with Newton's laws of motion and gravitation. Previous adaptations include the animated The Three-Body Problem in Minecraft (2014–2020) and the live-action Three-Body (2023), both of which were exclusively in Mandarin.
