Simon Sulaiman (born 1972) [1] is a Syrian-born Dutch strongman competitor and entrant to the World's Strongest Man competition.
Simon Sulaiman was born in Syria in 1972 and moved to the Netherlands in 1989. He first came to prominence as a strength athlete with a fourth-place finish in the 2002 Strongest man of the Netherlands competition. Two years later he took second spot but it was not until 2009 that he finally won the competition in his adopted homeland. As a result of this he was invited to attend the 2009 World's Strongest Man as one two reserves. In 2008 and 2009 he was a regular competitor in the Strongman Champions League grand prix's though did not manage a podium finish.
He resides in the town of Almere.
He is also the head strength and conditioning trainer for Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion and K-1 standout Alistair Overeem.

Strength athletics in the United Kingdom and Ireland has a long history going back many centuries before the televisation of strongman competitions in the 1970s. The ancient heritage of the sport in the United Kingdom and Ireland lies in a number of traditional events, the most famous of which is arguably the traditional Highland Games, which itself is a source of many events now practiced in modern strongman competitions, such as World's Strongest Man and International Federation of Strength Athletes (IFSA) sponsored events. However, the traditional events still are popularly contested events today. The World's Strongest Man 2009 was the 32nd edition of World's Strongest Man and took place in Valletta, Malta from 26 September to 3 October 2009. It was sponsored by PartyPoker.com. It was anticipated by the strength athletics world as promising to be "the best one yet." The anticipation was based on the organisers ensuring invites were made to "every top athlete in the world" regardless of their affiliation to any particular strength athletics body. In previous years, the schism between the International Federation of Strength Athletes and the organisers of WSM had meant that certain athletes were forbidden to compete, undermining the credentials of the competition.

The World Log Lift Championships is a (mostly) annual competition featuring strength athletes from all over the world, competing exclusively in the Log Clean and Press.
