Simon Ward (born December 27, 1983) is a Canadian singer, musician, and former frontman of The Strumbellas. [1] In 2022, he decided to quit the band as a singer and focus on songwriting. He said he wanted to spend more time with his family. [2]
He founded the group in 2008 in Toronto. He found most of the members on Craiglist. [3] The members of the group have remained the same from the beginning. Simon Ward on vocals and guitar, David Ritter on vocals and keys, Jon Hembrey on lead guitar, Isabel Ritchie on violin, Darryl James on bass guitar, and Jeremy Drury on drums.
The band has released five albums - My Father and the Hunter, We Still Move on Dance Floors, Hope, Rattlesnake and Part Time Believer. However, for the last album, he no longer served as lead singer.
In March 2022, the band announced on Instagram that Ward had transitioned into a behind-the-scenes role in order to focus on his family and songwriting. Jimmy Chauveau replaced Ward as the band's vocalist. [4]
Since his departure from the group, he has started to focus more on writing. Subsequently, he joined the grung group Soup. [5]

Saosin is an American rock band formed in 2003 in Orange County, California. The group originally consisted of Beau Burchell, Justin Shekoski, Zach Kennedy and Anthony Green. Following Dave Baksh's departure from Sum 41 on May 11, 2006, Thacker was recruited as their touring guitarist, and then became an official member in 2009. He has remained with Sum 41 ever since, even after Baksh rejoined the band in 2015, contributing to four studio releases.
