Sinking Creek (Turnback Creek tributary)

Sinking Creek is a stream in Lawrence and Dade counties of southwest Missouri. [1] It is a tributary of Turnback Creek.

The stream source is in the northeast corner of Lawrence County at 37°16′55″N93°40′54″W / 37.28194°N 93.68167°W / 37.28194; -93.68167 . The confluence with TurnBack Creek in south east Dade County is at 37°22′19″N93°47′38″W / 37.37194°N 93.79389°W / 37.37194; -93.79389 . [1]

The stream flows past the southwest edge of Everton and the village of Pilgrim. The St. Louis–San Francisco Railway follows the stream valley. [2] [3] [4]

Sinking Creek was named for its status as a losing stream. [5]

The stream flows north-northwest after passing under U.S. Route 60 and on through the extreme southwest corner of Greene County and into Lawrence County. In Lawrence County the stream flows northwest passing under Interstate 44 southwest of Halltown and into southeast Dade County. In Dade County the stream flows generally north and enters the Sac River arm of Stockton Lake at U.S. Route 160 east of Greenfield.

Turkey Creek is a stream in the Ozarks of southern Missouri and northern Arkansas. It is a tributary of Lake Taneycomo. The stream source is two-thirds of a mile south of the Missouri - Arkansas border in Boone County north of the village of Crest. The Missouri Pacific Railroad line follows the stream course after exiting the Crest railroad tunnel under Arkansas State Route 14 at Crest. North of the state line in Taney County the stream flows north through west Hollister to its confluence with Lake Taneycomo south of Branson. The stream covers a linear distance of 86 mi (138 km) between the border and its confluence.
