Sister is a 2018 stop motion animated film directed by Siqi Song during her studies at CalArts Experimental Animation Program as her graduation film. [1]

Accolades

The short has been presented and won awards in a number of festivals including the Oscar qualifying [5] HollyShorts Film Festival, the Aspen Shortsfest, the Austin Film Festival, and the Foyle Film Festival where it won four Oscar qualifying prizes [6] for best animation.

The short was nominated for the Annie Awards [7] and Shortlisted at the BAFTA Student Film Awards [8] for best student film in 2018. It was also nominated for Best Animated Short Film at the 92nd Academy Awards. [9]

The Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film is a Golden Globe Award that was awarded for the first time at the 64th Golden Globe Awards in 2007. It was the first time that the Golden Globe Awards had created a separate category for animated films since its establishment. The nominations are announced in January and an awards ceremony is held later in the month. Initially, only three films were nominated for best animated film, in contrast to five nominations for the majority of other awards. The Pixar film Cars was the first recipient of the award.

Triggerfish is a computer animation film studio based in Cape Town, South Africa and Galway, Ireland. The studio is best known for its animated feature films Adventures in Zambezia (2012), Khumba (2013), and Seal Team (2021), as well as the work they have done on television specials created for UK producers Magic Light Pictures. In 2016, Stick Man was awarded the Cristal for best TV production at the Annecy International Animation Festival. In 2017, Revolting Rhymes again won the Cristal for best TV production at the Annecy Festival, and was nominated for the Best Short Film (Animated) Oscar at the 2018 Academy Awards. In 2019, Netflix announced that Triggerfish would produce its first African animated TV series. In 2020, Zog won the International Emmy for Best Kids Animation. European Film Award for Best Animated Feature Film has been awarded annually since 2009 by the European Film Academy.
