Sister Polygon Records was an independent record label run by the band Priests. [1] The label was based in Washington, DC, and released music by Priests, Downtown Boys, Pinkwash, Knife Wife, and Shady Hawkins.
Priests created the label in 2012 [1] in order to release their first single, the "Radiation/Personal Planes" 7-inch. [2] The second release was a cassette of the New York feminist punk band Shady Hawkins' 2013 album Dead To Me. [1]
The members of Priests ran the label out of their houses and apartments. [3]
The label was interested in offering a platform to artists who might not have another way to get their music out. In an interview with the Washington City Paper, Daniele Daniele said: "We're interested in finding people who are underrepresented or weren't signed, making something weird enough where there might not be a normal outlet for it." [1]
The label went on hiatus, which was announced by Priests on Twitter in 2019. [4] The final album from the label released on September 25th, 2020. [5]
Sister Polygon has released music by Priests, Neonates, Shady Hawkins, Carni Klirs, Dudes, Downtown Boys, Pinkwash, Sneaks, Gauche, Hothead, Snail Mail, and Post Pink.

Dischord Records is a Washington, D.C.-based independent record label specializing in punk rock. The label is co-owned by Ian MacKaye and Jeff Nelson, who founded Dischord in 1980 to release Minor Disturbance by their band the Teen Idles. With other independent American labels such as Twin/Tone, Touch and Go Records, and SST Records, Dischord helped to spearhead the nationwide network of underground bands that formed the 1980s indie rock scene. These labels presided over the shift from the hardcore punk that then dominated the American underground scene to the more diverse styles of alternative rock that were emerging.

Dischord Records is an independent record label specializing in the punk rock music of the Washington, D.C., hardcore scene. The company is co-owned by Ian MacKaye and Jeff Nelson, who founded the label in December 1980. Before founding Dischord, both MacKaye and Nelson were members of the Teen Idles, and the label was initially meant to only foster a single release from the defunct band, the Minor Disturbance EP. By the time Dischord #1 was finished, many new bands had emerged from the same music scene, and like the Teen Idles, also began releasing their records through Dischord.

The High Back Chairs was a band from Washington, DC. Initially consisting of guitarist/vocalist Peter Hayes, guitarist Jim Spellman, bassist/vocalist Charles Steck, and drummer/vocalist Jeff Nelson, the group released its music on the Washington, D.C. punk record label, Dischord Records. The band eschewed the post-hardcore and hardcore punk sounds that Dischord was known for. Instead, the High-Back Chairs' music was highly melodic indie rock, owing more to power pop and jangle pop than to the band's punk rock roots. This was all the more notable since Nelson was a co-founder of Dischord and had played in the influential hardcore punk band, Minor Threat from 1980 to 1983. "Coming out at a time when grunge held a lot of sway in Amerindie land," Trouser Press later said of the band, "this breezy, supremely melodic, gutsy rock seemed almost noble."

Music historians and authors Mark Andersen and Mark Jenkins described the band's sound as "kinetic punk-funk" with "passionate, message-driven songs." Holy Rollers were a part of new trend in post-hardcore artistic diversity that developed within the D.C. punk scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s. They released three albums on Dischord Records, an American punk label that Noisey described as "one of the most respected and revered [record labels], punk or otherwise, in the world." As AllMusic declared, "[w]ithout being an arena act or coming off with the aggrandizing air of one, the Holy Rollers still make big music that can inspire and go beyond simple post-hardcore approaches."
