Sitta Umaru Turay (born December 24, 1978 in Freetown, Sierra Leone) is a Sierra Leonean journalist and current member of the editorial Board of the Freetown-based Sierra Express newspaper.

Freetown is the capital and largest city of Sierra Leone. It is a major port city on the Atlantic Ocean and is located in the Western Area of the country. Freetown is Sierra Leone's major urban, economic, financial, cultural, educational and political centre, as it is the seat of the Government of Sierra Leone. Abass Chernor Bundu is a Sierra Leonean politician, diplomat, and the current Speaker of the House of Sierra Leone House of Parliament, in office since April 25, 2018. Bundu was elected speaker by receiving 70 votes in Parliament. The Liberated Africans of Sierra Leone were illegally enslaved Africans rescued from slave ships intercepted by anti-slaving patrols in the Atlantic Ocean and near coastal trading stations on the African Coast after 1808. Born and enslaved throughout West and West Central Africa, the rescued Africans were liberated by British naval courts or bilateral tribunals established in Freetown, capital of the Sierra Leone Colony and Protectorate. Following liberation, most liberated Africans were then consigned to a variety of unfree labor apprenticeships in Freetown and the interior. Some Africans liberated in Freetown were later resettled as agriculturalists or colonial militiamen in British colonies in Guyana and the West Indies. Approximately 3,000 were forcibly migrated to British settlements along the Gambia River. Smaller numbers were settled in Liberia, a colony established by the United States.
Michael Tommy is a Sierra Leonean international football goalkeeper. He played recently for Grecia in the Costa Rican Second Division. Tommy was the first-choice goalkeeper for the Leone Stars in recent games but he has since lost that position to Christian Caulker.
William John Campbell was a Creole mayor of Freetown, Sierra Leone of Egba and Ife descent. His family was a prominent one amongst the Creoles in the early 1900s. His mother, Sarah Campbell, was an Egba while his father, John Campbell, was an Ife. His brother John William Campbell was a herbalist at Connaught Hospital in Freetown, Sierra Leone. An elder brother also called John William Campbell, was Justice of Peace of the Colony of Sierra Leone. The Campbell family owned a large area in Freetown along Fourah Bay road called "Fire burn" as it was such a large piece of land.

Winstanley Bankole Johnson is a Sierra Leonean politician and served as mayor of Freetown from July 2004 until he was sacked by his fellow members of the Freetown-city Council on January 17, 2008.
