Nagapattinam is a town in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and the administrative headquarters of Nagapattinam District. The town came to prominence during the period of Medieval Cholas and served as their important port for commerce and east-bound naval expeditions. The Chudamani Vihara in Nagapattinam constructed by the Srivijayan king Sri Mara Vijayattungavarman of the Sailendra dynasty with the help of Rajaraja Chola I was an important Buddhist structure in those times. Nagapattinam was settled by the Portuguese and, later, the Dutch under whom it served as the capital of Dutch Coromandel from 1660 to 1781. In November 1781, the town was conquered by the British East India Company. It served as the capital of Tanjore district from 1799 to 1845 under Madras Presidency of the British. It continued to be a part of Thanjavur district in Independent India. In 1991, it was made the headquarters of the newly created Nagapattinam District. Nagapattinam is administered by a Selection-grade municipality covering an area of 17.92 km2 (6.92 sq mi) and had a population of 102,905 as of 2011.
Palani is a town and a taluk headquarters in Dindigul district, Tamil Nadu located about 100 kilometres (62 mi) South-east of Coimbatore, 100 kilometres (62 mi) north-west of Madurai, and 67 kilometres (42 mi) from Kodaikanal. The Palani Murugan Temple or Arulmigu Kulazhandaivellayutha Swamy Temple (Thiruavinankudi), dedicated to Lord Murugan is situated on a hill overlooking the town. The temple is visited by more than 7 million pilgrims each year. As of 2011, the town had a population of 70,467.

Thirupaachi is a 2005 Indian Tamil-language action film written and directed by Perarasu. The film stars Vijay, Trisha and Mallika in the lead roles, with Livingston, Pasupathy, Benjamin, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Vaiyapuri and Manoj K. Jayan in other roles. Chaya Singh made a guest appearance in a song. The film featured score composed by Dhina, and a soundtrack jointly composed by Dhina, Devi Sri Prasad, and Mani Sharma. The story is about the upright lifestyle of Sivagiri and the affectionate bond he has with his sister. It was released on 14 January 2005. The film ran for 200 days in theatres. The movie was remade in 2006 in two languages - in Kannada as Thangigagi and in Telugu as Annavaram - both of which were released within a span of two months.
