SkiStar AB (marketed as skistar) is a Swedish leisure, tourism, property and retail company, listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange. The core business is alpine skiing in Sweden and Norway, and the associated accommodation, ski schools and rental services. [1]
The company has property development and management divisions, for example it is part-owner of Scandinavian Mountains Airport in Dalarna. The company also supplies ski infrastructure to other operators, for example it installed the ski lifts at Nätschen, Switzerland.
Skistar operates SkiStarshop Concept Store, a chain of retail outlets selling mainly winter sport-related clothing and equipment, and an associated online shop skistarshop.com.
From its foundation in 1975 until 2001 the company was called Sälenstjärnan AB.

Dalarna County is a county or län in central Sweden (Svealand). It borders on the counties of Uppsala, Jämtland, Gävleborg, Västmanland, Örebro and Värmland. Hemsedal is a municipality in Buskerud county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Hallingdal. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Trøym. Hemsedal lies on the Norwegian National Road 52. Hemsedal is located 220 km (136.70 mi) northwest of Oslo and 273 km (169.63 mi) from Bergen. In 1897, Hemsedal was separated from the municipality of Gol to become a municipality of its own.

Vasaloppet is an annual long distance cross-country ski race held on the first Sunday of March. The 90 km (56 mi) course starts in the village of Berga, just south of Sälen in western Dalarna, Sweden, and ends in the town of Mora in the central part of the province. It is the oldest cross-country ski race in the world, as well as the one with the highest number of participants.

The northern part of the urban area is located inside of the municipality of Krokom.
Åre is a locality and one of the leading Scandinavian ski resorts situated in Åre Municipality, Jämtland County, Sweden with 3,200 inhabitants in 2018. It is, however, not the seat of the municipality, which is Järpen. 25% of the local economy is based on tourism, most notably the downhill skiing and biking resorts in Åre, Duved and Storlien. The growth in tourism has resulted in the development of hotels, recreational and shopping opportunities in the area.

Mora–Siljan Airport is located about 7 km or 3.3 NM southwest of Mora, Sweden. Its fixed-base operator (FBO), AB Dalaflyget, which also operates Dala Airport, consists of the municipalities of Mora, Falun, Borlänge and Dalarna County, in Central Sweden. Dalaflyget also provides air traffic control services. The 45 m wide runway and parking can accommodate Boeing 737-type airliners.
Storlien [ˈstuːrˌliːən] is a village and ski resort located in Åre municipality in Jämtland, Sweden, two kilometres from the Swedish-Norwegian border. The primary bases of the settlement are tourism and outdoor life – alpine skiing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, hunting, fishing and hiking. During the 2000s, retail sales to customers from Norway become important, and most of the tourists in Storlien are Norwegians. The Swedish royal family has a house in Storlien, where they usually celebrate Easter and the New Year. There was also previously a sanitarium. Storlien was formerly the centre of winter activities for Skidfrämjandet, now Friluftsfrämjandet, an organisation that promotes outdoor leisure, and played a major role in developing downhill skiing in Sweden.
Hans Anders Olsson is a Swedish former alpine skier. He represented Sweden at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, where he came 12th in downhill. He also represented Sweden at the 2007, 2009 and 2011 Alpine World Ski Championships. Olsson specialised in the speed disciplines of super-G and particularly downhill.
The Swedish Ski Games is an annual cross-country skiing event in Sweden. The games started in Sundsvall in 1947 but moved to Falun in 1959. Up to 1991, ski jumping and Nordic combined skiing were also included as a recurring event. Included were also alpine skiing between 1950–1953 and biathlon in 1984. Since 1992, the Swedish Ski Games has arranged international cross-country skiing events only. The event is usually held in February–March as one of the final World Cup competitions during the season. The event is usually held at Lugnet. Lack of snow has sometimes required the event to be moved to other places.
Snälltåget is an open access railway company in Sweden with long-distance trains along the Southern Main Line in Sweden from Malmö to Stockholm as well as sleeper trains between Stockholm and Berlin and Malmö to the ski and hiking resorts in Jämtland county.
Sälen/Scandinavian Mountains Airport, also referred to as Sälen Trysil Airport, is an airport in the municipality of Malung-Sälen, Dalarna, Sweden, close to the Norwegian border.
Transitio AB is a Swedish limited liability company that is owned by its customers, a mix of different regions and public transport companies in Sweden. Their function is to buy trains and then lease them out to the owners and in so doing reduce the cost of maintenance and ownership. Unlike buses the public transport companies typically need to lease trains, because they have high cost and usually two-three years of delivery time. There is a need to limit cost by reducing the number of train models and procuring larger number of trains per purchase. Transitio has during the period 1999-2012 purchased trains worth 25 billion SEK, mainly from the manufacturers Bombardier and Alstom. From 2015 purchase contracts has to a high degree been signed with Stadler Rail. As of 2017, Transitio owned 145 trains.
Lieutenant General Gösta Lilliehöök was a Swedish Army officer. His senior commands include commanding officer of the 1st Infantry Brigade, military commander of Upper Norrland and of the Eastern Army Division as well as Commandant General of Stockholm Garrison.
Olof “Olle” Alfred Rimfors was a Swedish ski pioneer, ski instructor, military officer, and sports official. In 1934 he introduced alpine skiing in Sweden together with Sigge Bergman, after studying for a month at the ski school of Hannes Schneider in St. Anton am Arlberg and competing in the FIS Alpine World Championships.
