Telemark is a county and a current electoral district in Norway. Telemark borders the counties of Vestfold, Buskerud, Vestland, Rogaland and Agder. In 2020, Telemark merged with the county of Vestfold to form the county of Vestfold og Telemark. On 1 January 2024, the county of Telemark was re-established after Vestfold og Telemark was divided again.
Skien is a municipality in Telemark county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Grenland, although historically it belonged to Grenmar/Skiensfjorden, while Grenland referred the Norsjø area and Bø. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Skien, which is also the administrative centre of the whole county. Some of the notable villages in the municipality include Åfoss, Hoppestad, Klovholt, Luksefjell, Melum, Kilebygda, Skotfoss, Sneltvedt, and Valebø.
Grenland is a traditional district in Telemark county, in the south-east of Norway. "Grenland" has referred to varying locations throughout history. In modern times, Grenland refers to the areas of the municipalities of Skien, Porsgrunn, Bamble, and Siljan. Sometimes the municipalities Kragerø and Drangedal are also considered to be part of the area. The region encompasses 1,794 square kilometres (693 sq mi) and has 122,978 inhabitants (2004), which translates as 12% of the area and 64% of the population of Telemark.

Kviteseidvatn or Kviteseidvatnet is a lake in the municipality of Kviteseid in Telemark county, Norway. The 15.76-square-kilometre (6.08 sq mi) lake is part of the Telemark Canal and lies in the Skien watershed. The lake's water level was first regulated in 1892.
Valebø is a village in Skien Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. The village is located on the eastern shore of Norsjø, across the lake from the villages of Ulefoss and Helgja in Nome Municipality. The village of Valebø lies about 25 kilometres (16 mi) to the northwest of the town of Skien, about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) northwest of the village of Hoppestad, and about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) to the south of Nordagutu in Midt-Telemark Municipality.

The Tinnoset Line was a 30-kilometer (19 mi) long Norwegian railway line that went from Tinnoset to Notodden in Telemark county. The railway was part of the transport chain used to transport fertilizer from Norsk Hydro's factory in Rjukan to the port in Skien. The railway opened in 1909 and was closed when the plant closed in 1991. The railway is sometimes mistakenly believed to be part of the Rjukan Line.

Kalhovdfjorden is a lake in Tinn Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. The lake lies about 20 kilometres (12 mi) to the north of the town of Rjukan and about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) east of the Hardangervidda National Park. The lake is part of the Skien watershed. The river Mår is the main outflow of the lake. The lake Møsvatn lies to the southwest and the lake Tinnsjå lies to the southeast. The area of the lake is 20.39 square kilometers (7.87 sq mi) and it is located 1,084 meters (3,556 ft) above sea level.

MS Henrik Ibsen is a historic Norwegian diesel-powered ship built in 1907. Together with MS Victoria, it sails on the Telemark Canal in Norway between Skien and Dalen in the summer. The ship was built by Eriksbergs Mekaniska Verkstad in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1907 and named SS Styrsö. The ship was operated in the Gothenburg archipelago until 1970, and after that she was used as charter ship.
Telemark Hospital Trust is a health trust with its headquarters in Skien. There are also sections in Porsgrunn and Kragerø. The total employees in 2003 were 2750, of which 215 were doctors. It is owned by Southern and Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority.
Teater Ibsen is a theatre in Skien in Telemark, Norway. The theatre was established in 1975 as Telemark Teater, and changed its name to Teater Ibsen in 1991. The theatre serves as regional theatre for the counties of Telemark and Vestfold. From 1986 to 2010 the theatre played at Festiviteten in Skien, and relocated to a former industrial site at Klosterøya in Skien in 2011. Anders T. Andersen was appointed artistical director from 2010.

Vestfold og Telemark was a county in Norway, which existed from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2023. The county was the southernmost one of Eastern Norway and consisted of two distinct and separate traditional regions: the former counties of Telemark and Vestfold. The capital was located in the town of Skien, which was also the county's largest city. While Skien was the seat of the county municipality, the seat of the County Governor was Tønsberg. It bordered the counties of Viken, Vestland, Rogaland and Agder until its dissolution.

The court in Kviteseid accepts cases from the municipalities of Fyresdal, Kviteseid, Nissedal, Tokke, Seljord, and Vinje. The court in Notodden accepts cases from the municipalities of Hjartdal, Notodden, Tinn, and Midt-Telemark. The court is subordinate to the Agder Court of Appeal.
