Skye Borgman is an American film director and cinematographer. [1] [2] [3] She is best known for her work on the documentary film Abducted in Plain Sight . [4]

Life and career

Skye was born in Klamath Falls, Oregon. She was graduated from the Cornish College of the Arts and University of Southern California. [5] She is a professor at the University of Southern California. [6]

Skye's debut documentary film Junk Dreams, won the Best Documentary Award at the Bare Bones International Film Festival and Accolade Award of Excellence. [7] [8] In 2017, she premiered Abducted in Plain Sight, also known as Forever B and produced by Top Knot Films, at the Mammoth Lakes Film Festival, and the film was released by Netflix in 2019. [9] [10] It also won the award for Best Documentary film at the Newport Beach Film Festival and Phoenix Film Festival. [11] [12]

Genesis 2.0 is a documentary film made by Swiss director and producer Christian Frei and Russian filmmaker Maxim Abugaev. The feature-length film was released in January 2018 in the World Cinema Documentary section at the Sundance Film Festival. At the center of the film is the woolly mammoth, an extinct and iconic species that today is surrounded by wishes and visions. On the one hand, the film documents the hazardous daily lives of a group of men who gather valuable mammoth tusks in a remote archipelago, the New Siberian Islands. Abducted in Plain Sight, also known as Forever B, is a 2017 true crime documentary film directed by Skye Borgman. The documentary covers the kidnappings of Jan Broberg, an Idaho child who was abducted by her neighbor Robert Berchtold in the 1970s on two occasions. It contains interview footage with Broberg. It was produced by Top Knot Films and released by Netflix in 2019. The story was first told in Stolen Innocence: The Jan Broberg Story, a memoir published by her and her mother in 2003.

Girl in the Picture is an American Netflix original documentary film directed by Skye Borgman. It's based on the books A Beautiful Child and Finding Sharon by Matt Birkbeck, who also serves as executive producer. The story is centered on a young girl known as Sharon Marshall, who was abducted by a federal fugitive Franklin Delano Floyd and then raised as his daughter. Over the course of the next two decades, she was sexually assaulted by Floyd, forced to marry him and ultimately died in a suspicious hit-and-run accident in 1990. The film follows the shocking events that transpired afterward, and the years-long efforts by Birkbeck, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the FBI to find her true identity. The film was released on July 6, 2022.

The Truth About Jim is an upcoming 2024 American documentary series, directed and produced by Skye Borgman. It follows a young woman as she investigates if her step-grandfather was a serial killer.
