Slagwerkkrant's first issue was printed in 1985. Despite being printed exclusively in the Dutch language, the magazine has built up a solid reputation in the international drumming community. Many drummers, such as Simon Phillips, Terry Bozzio and Virgil Donati, collaborate closely with the magazine's staff organizing drum events in The Netherlands on a regular basis.
The bi-monthly issues offer interviews with national and international drummers and percussionists, tests of drum and percussion products, articles on various drum and percussion related topics, reviews of drum events, CD and DVD reviews and more.
Slagwerkkrant is published by Keijser 18 Mediaproducties, a publishing company in Amsterdam.
In 2005, Slagwerkkrant joined forces with Dutch drumming community website SlagwerkWereld, [1] who launched an international version of their website, DrummersZone, [2] the same year.

Double drumming is a musical technique, used mostly in rock music, where two drummers each play a drum kit at the same time. One may play the rhythm while the other may play another style, or both may play the same rhythm. It is more common to have a main drummer with an auxiliary percussionist who plays Latin American percussion, toms, or mallet percussion, but this is not considered "double drumming".

Frank Arsenault was an internationally known American percussionist, teacher, and clinician in the areas of marching percussion, rudimental drumming, drum and bugle corps, and marching band. He was a full-time Staff Clinician and Educational Field Representative for the Ludwig Drum Company. He is also well known in his field for his signature playing style, for his many championship titles, and for his recording of The 26 Standard American Drum Rudiments and Selected Solos.

He has received awards including being named 'Best Jazz Drummer' and 'Best Fusion Drummer' in the Benelux countries by the readers of the magazine De Slagwerkkrant between 1993 and 2020.
